That is amazing. The Pier was so ugly. And it's amazing what they can do in one year.

I assume that you are talking about the flat concrete roof portion that can be seen from Screamin' and the Sun Wheel? It personally doesn't bother me because contrary to what you are saying Disney used to do this quite often. If you ever rode the skyway over Fantasyland you would be able to see just how incomplete those ride buildings really were.

In the same vein its nice that they are installing boardwalk planks but flooring tied into an area's theme is a relatively new feature. Traditionally, each land had plain concrete but in a different color.

One of the first ideas was to add wood planks to the whole boardwalk. It was later decided that the area would get the wood on the edge and then patterned concrete in other areas. The money that was going to be spent on all that extra wood for the floor was decided that would be better spent on more ddetail for the attraction and land.

The original plans were to add wood planks to the whole boardwalk. It was later decided that the huge cost of doing that would be better spent on adding more detail to the attractions building as well as the rest of the Land.


The flooring in the land will be like before. Wood planks on the edge of the boardwalk and patterned concrete down the middle.

Basically if the whole area had wood added it would have needed to be placed from the entrance of the land all the way down to the end to make it look uniform.

I think they made the right decision. The money is better spent on attractions and building details. The floor could always change just like they have been doing slowly in Disneyland

If they are doing a 1 billion dollar renovation of DCA, able to build a whole new land, and build countless other attractions, I'm sure they could find the money somewhere to extend the wood of the boardwalk. Perhaps this will come later on in PP's renovation? It just seems its a big part of the theme of a Victorian seaside boardwalk.

I don't understand, they go all out on the building but go cheap on the railings, roof, and floor? The railings seem to be ordinary and don't have any fancy designs in them like New Orleans Square. The floor is plain concrete, I mean come on can't they get a floor with a pattern? Isn't a victorian theme suppose to have these things? The building would have been perfect if they had done this. The building itself is beautiful, just sad to see these items bypassed. Good thing though that these are items that can be added on in the future.

Loving the updates. Funny how they fence off one side, of the new stands they are building, but not the water/coaster side.
