    Re: Monsters Inc Refurb, why???

Well I think that it is mostly basic maintenance and one really big peeve of mine ever since the ride opened "Brand new" was that the majority of the little on ride monitors that set up the story were in terrible disrepair. I hope those get some TLC. I hear that the refurb is taking because they are trying to figure out how to sneak the Hollywood Tower Hotel towel back into the locker room scene.

Even the most dedicated and responsible parents can't stop a kid from occasionally suddenly getting excited and doing something unpredictable.

And because the waiting position is right up next to the ride path, even having a kid on a leash wouldn't prevent them from entering suddenly nor could even a fast CM reaction. The gates are a good idea IMHO.

What I have heard is that they are rebuilding the former "Limos". You have to remember, most of the animatronics and ride vehicles in the Monsters Inc. ride are the same exact exact ones from Superstar Limo and date back to DCA's opening in 2001, and haven't really been in a major rehab since it opened. This is that much needed rehab.

Darwin hated Superstar Limo. Anything else would be gravy to him.

I dunno, I think Pooh is light years ahead of Monsters in terms of disappointment. I mean, Monsters isn't the greatest ride, but I enjoy it far more than Pooh

Monsters is MUCH better than Pooh. It's amusing IMO.

Maybe they can pluss the queue a little bit while they're at it. The ride isn't bad. It isn't great either, but hopefully they can get some E-tickets in there and let Monsters Inc be the okay darkride that it was designed to be.

I remember when there were no gates on rides anywhere. Like Montezuma's Revenge! Imagine getting hit by that train while it is reversing, ouch!

Hey, at least Monsters actually ran. I remember when it was limo it broke down a lot!

So how long will it be before they have gates for the tram?

Yeah. Pooh needs this more than Monsters does. But no. Pooh doesn't have one scheduled.

I think they should extend the refurb and make the exterior into the Monsters Inc. (the business) building like there doing in one of the other Disney parks

Both Pooh and Monsters, Inc. are nicely-done attractions, IMO. They do suffer from poor placement (both thematically and geographically) which has translated into backlash over the quality of the attraction itself, IMO. I doubt Pooh (or Monsters, Inc. either for that matter--though as with everything, this would be debateable) would have as many critics if properly placed in Fantasyland. It fits with Fantasyland thematically, and it is on par with the surrounding FAntasyland attractions in regards to show quality.

But Pooh is easily comparable to its counterpart in Florida, which is much better in terms of ride quality. If half as much effort (aka money) had been put into the Pooh attraction as was put into the Florida (or the MUCH superior Tokyo) version, then it might actually have a line longer than 5 minutes every once in a while.
