Darn it Fo'C! I was all set with Indy but now you threw HM in there. I'm still sticking with Indy because while Walt was well dead when it opened, he still had a little bit of input.

Nice poll Fo'C! Please note the spelling in the previous sentence is correct.

With regard to poll, I couldn't choose between Indiana Jones and Haunted Mansion. While the former is a technically and visually superb, I think it's very hard to design a non-thrill ride that can entertain people of all ages and stand the test of time, such as Haunted Mansion.

IJA seems to enjoy the early lead. The AP system has (as yet) received no votes. Odd to me, since the AP system virtually has laid the foundation for MC itself, and has become a necessity in many Guests' lives. Interesting. Are you all being honest with me?

I voted Haunted Mansion. It was the first steps Imagineering took after Walt's death, and things might have gone disastrously wrong if that attraction had 'failed'.

As much as i love my A.P., it's not earth shattering in my opinion. I'm all about Space Mountain. Indy is great and all, but i am kind of over it...

Swab, my gift to you for a great poll....

Yup, a pink drink umbrella....Enjoy with your Sea Breeze.

Re: DL's Greatest Achievement in its Post-Walt Lifetime

I would have to pick Haunted Mansion, although BTMRR and IJA are very close seconds, to me HM is more special because it is something that can accommodate almost any guest regardless of age, height or physical ability, a true family ride for the masses, but still delivers thrills on a different level than any of the coasters can because of the true nature of the attraction..

HM is a true experience from the moment you see it across ROA when entering Frontierland it builds an anticipation of what is to come. First there is the eerie queue, the character of CMs at the foyer and that first gleam of what is to come when the doors to the stretching room begin to close. A visit to the park would never be complete for my family and to me that makes it a big accomplishment.

For me its hard to weigh a business decision over an accomplishment that is the purpose to bring people into the parks in the first place. If it wern't for things like HM, IJA, POTC, iasw and Space Mountain I would have no need for my AP.

The system is an accomplishment for DP&R because it is a main reason for keeping attendance numbers up. Not really an accomplishment that makes me want to go to the parks, although it does allow me to visit more often.

While the AP system isn't as important to me personally, I am surprised at its poor showing so far. It is unexpected (but encouraging) that people are saying (indirectly by voting) that the HM or IJA or other quality themed attractions are more important to them than their AP.

True, but we are talking about single attractions here. It's great, don't get me wrong, to see people more attached to an attraction than they are their AP.

The AP system was not needed before the change away from the ticket system. When you could get in the park for less than the hourly minimum wage you could go to DL for a couple hours, walk around, ride one or two things, watch the fireworks and leave. The AP is a tool to allow people to do the same today.

Very true. My family did this often when I was a Southern Californian.
