The International Has a good reputation
Re: DL's Greatest Achievement in its Post-Walt Lifetime

I would have voted for the "Believe" fireworks but they're not on the poll so I voted for Star Tours although I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Which has had the most impact on what, exactly?

And Indy can hardly be considered the last "gem" when Soarin' and Tower of Terror came after it.

Yeah I'm not sure what you're hoping to accomplish with this poll. I've read your post twice and I'm not exactly sure if you want people to choose their favorite ride or the ride they think has had most impact? Either way it's unclear. And of course people are going to choose their favorite attraction over their AP or fastpasses. I like my AP but it's just a small piece of plastic that lets me through the gates... much less exciting than even the tamest DL ride.

Fitting, as the number 13 is associated with bad luck, ill-omen, and is to be avoided.

On you. What, in your opinion was the greatest and most important of the Post-Walt Disney milestones. Some vote for what they consider best for them personally, others may vote for what they consider was ultimately best for the shaping of the Park in the future.

As I said, this discussion relates only to DL, not DCA. IJA IS Imagineering's last gem in DL, IMO.

The AP is a tool to allow people to do the same today.
Actually I see this as a disadvantage. Take a conference attendee who through the ticket books could in fact visit the park even if they only had a few house to spend...ride a few rides, have dinner, pick up a souvenier and leave. Today with the creation of the general park admission means this guest would need to buy a day pass at $65 for that experience.

The AP works as the ticket books for those where it makes sense for frequent visitors, espeically those that qualify for the So Cal passes, but is actually a failure for a casual visitor that only has a few hours to spend in the parks.

I voted HM. This could be a poor reason for voting, but that attraction, above the other choices, feels the most connected and inspired by Walt's original vision for the park and its attractions. It’s themed perfectly (if you love NOS) and is a testament to the great imagination and originality that I believe is lacking in many of the other choices. As always, good post Swab.

But there are far more locals than there are casual visitors. I have been to the convention center on business and had so much to do that I was unable to get to the park. Many people attending conventions are really busy. Also most conventions do include the ability to purchase DL entry as part of the deal. It has been years since I looked at this so I have no idea the cost of such entry.

Since I didn't ask people to vote for their 'favorite' ride, I think we can rule that out as my intent. Most people are having little trouble understanding the poll, but allow me to clarify: which of the listed elements has most impacted you as a Guest of DL? Which element do you feel is the most important Disney milestone of the few that are listed? Many factors to consider (not just a one-dimensional 'this is my favorite ride' poll) before one votes. Ask yourself which of these items listed has meant more to me than any other. And then vote. Or don't.

Star Tours embodies a major innovation, in terms of narrative structure. That attraction was the first to make a significant attempt to fully fictionalize the audience and involve them in the story.

Maybe as one of the choices I should have listed a "Poll that all could easily understand" option to vote for?

Incidentally--whoever voted for BTMRR--good for you!! That was a toss-up for me between the HM and BTMRR. BTMRR is the last great DL example, IMO, of what can be accomplished sans box office momentum--it's a super star!!

A good point, and one that is often overshadowed by Disney's decision with this attraction to use outside franchise material for the foundation of a big-budget E-ticket.
