The one thing that I do like about this make over is the different parts to it. There is a big E-ticket, some smaller rides and a lot of good place-making.

I love cars, I think Radiator springs will be the best.

The Entrance. At Disney Park's I am more of a wanderer than a rider.

Cars is my favorite movie and I am confident that they can make the land very balanced, themed, and enjoyable, plus highly superior to Bug's Land.

Finally, a working trolley system! It sounds like a great mode of transportation that will be greatly needed in order to really drive the amazement of DCA's entrance home.

And I can't imagine there being a show like the World of Color in DCA at all, but I am very excited for it.

HAH! And some of you thought I was just a "ride" guy. Well truth be known, I like to have a good theme first... the ride will come after.

I also voted for the water show. It will bring some definite extra fun and magic to DCA in the evenings which also means... LONGER HOURS! Even if DCA is still a park that doesn't require as much time as Disneyland, I basically can't go to DCA most of the time because it's closed too darn early!

And last thing I voted for was the Preview Center. There's nothing more that gets my juices flowing than seeing what's coming into the future. heck, isn't that all we do here on MC? Talk about the future?
Theming is every bit as important as the rides for me as well. ..and yes. we are quite preoccupied with future happenings here on the MiceChat board.

You have your finger on the pulse, ni_tech. An enginious mix of rides, shows, and thematic ambiance are included in the expansion - including several that haven't even been announced.

Radiator Springs Racers will make it's predecessor, Test Track, pale in comparrison.

Don't usually have the time to ride the trolleys in San Francisco - but I love them. There will be no excuse not to ride the trolleys at DCA. I agree that the ambiance of the immersive new 1920's setting setting will make the ride even more dramatic and enjoyable.

Bug's Land is for toddlers. Carsland will appeal to adults and teens. It's like comparing Dumbo to Space Mountain.

I wouldn't call it "ingenious" by any stretch. Ingenious would be the addition of new theming, new attractions, and a new land that actually has to do with the California theme that incorporates new themes, new ideas, and new technology seamlessly into a top-notch Disney quality experience.

"Ingenious" (or "creative, original, and inventive") wouldn't be a rehash of the 9-year-old Test Track system, or another omnimover attraction. Ingenious would be show-stopping, blockbuster, groundbreaking, and all-new attractions that show us Disney still has what it takes to make a park truly remarkable - not just a rehash of parts of other parks and rides with different characters.

Odds are DCA is destined to lose it's name - and the California thematic albatross along with it. Disney is in the process of transforming the park into an entirely different being.

All rides are based on other rides. That's the way it's been throughout amusrment park / theme park history. Prior to Dineyland being built, it is well documented that Walt visited and explored all kinds of parks both here and in Europe. Where RS Racers/Test Track is concerned, I would rather see Disney improve uppon it's own technologies than to copy somebody else. Plus, there is a huge potential for ingenipous and fresh theming along with a fantastic storyline.

The trolleys might be engineered to travel in opposite directions on a single track - like a putting an automobile in forward and reverse. Then again, there may be looks at each end of it's pathway. Still yet, there might be tracks on each side of the street. There are many ways that Disney could design the system. I do not know of anyone that knows specifically at this time.

I like all of it. I agree with coheteboy. the park does need to extend its operating hours. actually it would be nice to see both parks open untill midnight seven days a week....

    http://webster.com/dictionary/ingenious
    in·ge·nious
: marked by especial aptitude at discovering, inventing, or contriving
: marked by originality, resourcefulness, and cleverness in conception or execution

"Ingenious" was utilizing a flume for "it's a small world" and Pirates of the Caribbean

"Ingenious" was utilizing the slow-moving Omnimover system for the Haunted Mansion instead of the problematic walk-through idea.

    "Ingenious" was audio animatronics.

"Ingenious" was taking the motion simulator to the next level for Star Tours

"Ingenious" was the Enhanced Motion Vehicles developed for Indiana Jones Adventure

"Ingenious" was developing the ride system for Soarin' Over California

"Ingenious" was developing the ride system for the first Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

... Nothing about the new DCA is particularly ingenious. Instead of creating a new, original ride system, or using a different ride system that would contribute more to the attraction's theme and story, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid is using the Omnimover ride system that is easy and cost-efficient.

Instead of creating a land that truly showcases California car culture, they're building a land based on an animated film with its marquee attraction utilizing a ride system that was developed for an attraction that first debuted some 9 years ago.

Instead of truly trying to incorporate Disney characters into Disney's California Adventure with some coherency and care to theme, they're being slapped on ferris wheels, wild mouse coasters, and overpriced pay-per-play games.

Originality, creativity, cleverness in design... None of it is particularly present in the new DCA. Just offerings that are more or less "safe" and guaranteed to entertain guests and sell merchandise.

Nevertheless, I am still excited for Walt Disney Plaza.

I'm glad someone out there thinks so, I was beginning to worry. Now if only DCA's attractions were as ingenious as I supposedly am...
