change anything noticeable? Also were there any noticeable changes with the recent Storybookland Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train rehabs?

Not to me. I saw them both 2 weeks ago and I didn't see any big changes.
Mostly ride system rehab. Replaced motors, added intrusion skirts to the vehicles (ala Roger, Pooh, Toad).
.....Oh, and they added a loop.
(sorry, but you know.... it's mandatory)
At the end, you see Alice smoking the Caterpillars pipe.
True.
Srsly tru.
No, no need to apologize. At least you didn't bring up the fact that Sweeney Sparrow has now moved into Alice, too......Oh, and they added a loop.

Alice got a heavy duty coat of flourescent paint. Normally I can just ignore the fact that she's there but this time you could see her through the black screen.
There are a few digital effects in the ride from the recent upgrade. The Catepillar's smoke is now a new, digitally projected animation. And the Cheshire Cat's illuminated eyes (which precede his entire form illuminating) is now a small, digital lcd instead of dimming and illuminating plastic.
The one detail that's annoyed me for the past year is that the birthday cake now "explodes" too early. I remember in the past the light would always flash and the sound burst just as you were heading out the door, implying that the cake exploded behind you, rather than simply seeing that there is a light and the cake doesn't actually do anything.
Just sayin.

Yes - Alice has been drinking considerably less.
