The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

This thread is in anticipation of all the threads that will erupt when future news of this rumored ride come to light.

**I claim this thread in the name of Micechat, so that none will suffer the fate of thousands of threads as they did during the Great Peoplemover Boom of '05. May it live forever, breeding unsubstantiated rumors and feeding off of the ideas of those who post on it.**

So anyway, who likes the idea of this ride and who wishes it would sink to the bottom of the sub lagoon?

A Test Track style e-ticket at DCA? Gimme! Gimme now!

In all seriousness, I think the car culture of California (I loves the alliteration) should have a place in DCA, and if the ride is well-designed, it will be a nice fit and a welcome addition.

TT version with Cars characters.. not bad idea.. now for the constant breakdowns.. i mean fixing the safety systems...

I don't know where they would find the space to put a long speed track like Test Track has... plus it is very noisy. So many issues that need to be delt with!

Re: The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

There definitely needs to be a spot on the ride where everyone slows down to look at an accident, with hovering helicopters and such. And the vehicle allows you to honk the horn during this slowdown.

This kind of advance thinking (planning a ride based on a film not yet released) should always occur. Plans can always be scrapped, but plans take a few years to develop.

Re: The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

I'm hoping for at least a slow part with detailed scenes, or engaging characters. Test Track in the dark is soooo boring!

Re: The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

Test Track was frustrating on our visit. First, Fast Pass shouldn't be allowed on the attraction, not with the number of breakdowns it has and the seating capacity. It was bad to ever allow it.

But, like others have said, it breaks down about half as often as Rocket Rods did. It's horrible for that reason alone.

I think a "Cars" themed ride is just fine, but it should illustrate our traffic frustrations after we've made it through the queue and not before.

Re: The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

Cars at DCA? I say Bring it on - this ride is going to be just the ticket if it gets the Green light! A buddy of mine who does contract work for WDI says it's as good as signed off.

For one, think of the potential of using two tracks that 'interact' with one another?!?!? I can picture one car blocking the path of another as Car 2 comes screeching toward it.......EEEEK!

The technology is ripe for the picking and it's high time SoCal had a taste of it for one of their Parks. Whether you like the theme or not, this ride is gunna Kick arse big time!

Acutally the ride system if very quite, the have speakers outside of the car to make it sound like a real car! (everything is electric)

Re: The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

Really?

I remember Rocket Rods being really loud, and I thought it was based on the Test Track design.

I don't know anything though. Odds are 100:1 that I'm wrong.

I think they even added sound to the rocket rods too, but the rocket rods arn't 100% based off of Test Track system, the track is totally different. I'll get more into it latter, I need to go to bed!

Re: The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

Test Track makes a bit of a screeching noise (it actually sounds a lot like cars at a race track, but without the engine noise...a very neat sound as cars whisk by every 30 seconds or so). I am sure the outside of this ride will actually be themed like a race track (the preview makes this pretty obvious), so the noise will be just right. What is wrong with having a loud attraction, anyway? It would add some excitement to DCA, which is VERY welcomed, and it wouldn't really make any noise for Anaheim...have the show building b/t the outdoor portion and Harbor Blvd. and all noise will stay in the park. And, the use of two tracks both allows for virtually no total breakdowns (just close one track if need be), excepting during rain, and also for cars on the two tracks to race each other. It sounds very neat to me. As for Fastpass, it is absolutely necessary on Test Track. It is a pain since they sell out so quickly, but without Fastpass, you would never get on this ride w/ less than a 2 hour wait due to the incredibly low capacity and high popularity. Thankfully, the Cars ride will double that capacity and greatly solve the problem Test Track has always had with lines, even before Fastpass was added to it.

Re: The Big Time "Cars Ride" Thread

I like Mickey D's idea...

How cool would it be if the car talked to you while it drives, or the radio plays or something. It could talk to the show scenes and, like Mickey said, interact with other cars.

I give two hopeful thumbs up.
