LOL While I was watching ABC news in the Emergency Room they were talking about Disneyland and how they were going to have a massive firework spectacular.

Re: New Year's Eve 2008! News and Running Trip Report

DCA had a 'decent' little fireworks show, given the winds. They did have the very loud *BANGS* at the beginning and end. Had some of the really bright flares and even shot some up as high as the Sun Wheel (which had been closed) which then exploded. I was pleasantly surprised they did what they did. The winds were still really blowing at the time, too. So it sounds like DCA may have had more than Disneyland this time. Knew that Paradise Bay would come in handy one of these days!

Funny you should ask. The ambassadors came out and gave a speech on how wonderful 2007 was with Nemo and the expansion at DCA. It was almost like a commerical for the theme parks, and New Year's was taking a back seat. They did do the count down but they started it from 4,3,2,1,Happy New Year. Kinda anti-climatic. On a scale of 1-10 I would give Disney a 5. Yes not having the fireworks was a bummer but it was really windy tonight and we don't need anymore fires in Southern California. The crowds were really good throughout the night, maybe due to the cold weather. The D.J played some good music but he couldn't mix in his songs that well..That's my 2 cents. If you stayed home New Year's eve you didn't miss much, except maybe cold feet and chilly winds.. Happy New Year

thanks. I was just wondering because my friend liz was just officially instated as one of the 2008 ambassadors (along with david gill), and I wasn't able to make it down to see it.

I did hear from her around one, and all went well.

let the year of craziness begin!

    happy 2008 all!

Well, it was fun in the parks today, guys. Really busy, but fun. And though the temperature wasn't that low, the wind was pretty strong. I'm talking 'blow your hat off while you're walking' strong. Unfortunately I left the MC crew right after dinner at the winery but I had a great time. It was my first time in the parks since I was a CM 7 years ao and I was suprised just how many people left Disneyland after the 3:15 parade.

Tonight was great. Me and my friends became the first 3 riders on Muholland Madness (We boarded at 11:59 and as soon as we dispatched the countdown was already over.) The winds were a nightmare. Kind of sad that Fantasmic! got no show the entire night same with Believe. Oh well it's just fireworks not a big deal.

I just downloaded my New Year's Eve Countdown from the Castle...so you can see...no one was too disappointed from the looks of it.

The difference between "involvement" and "commitment" is like a eggs and ham breakfast: The chicken was "involved" - the pig was "commited"!

Yes the ambassadors did their little thing in front of the castle. Just before the party got into full swing, Liz, the new 2008 ambassador braved the crowd with her family and droped them off in the hub in front of the castle right next to me. It was nice to meet the new ambassador and seeing her brave the crowd to make sure her parents got a good spot for her first offical job as ambassador.

Thank you to everyone who posted from the park last night and this morning. It was a fun read from the comfort and warmth of my living room.

It sounds like you all had a good time. Thanks for the video of the countdown and castle. Looks like those lights on the castle this year came in real handy with the fireworks being canceled. You could really see those trees blowing. Loved the lighting on the castle.

Happy 2008 everyone and k_peek_2000, really wishing a speedy recovery and the best for your Dad

I have a video shot dead center of the castle from the hub for New Years, I will see if I can post it later today.
