Placing the Gallery on the second level of a building in NOS, with a fancy set of stairs leading up to it, told you that it was special. That's all I'm saying. I'm not nitpicking. I'm simply saying the old location made you know it was something special. I'm sure you understand my point.

Do we have a source for this information?

The Opera House is a terrible location. Are they going to rename the venue for the Gallery? Is the theatre going to be removed? Is it going to be "The Main Street Opera House - Now Showing: The Disney Gallery"?

I think this is going to be another way of Disney cheaping out. Instead of giving us an attraction that would properly utilize the theatre facilities, they're putting in something that can be an easy addition (see Snow White exhibit set-up in Disney Animation).

How about utilizing the old Plaza Pavillion building? How long has it sat dormant? Ditch the Plaza Pavillion name and re-name it the Main Street Gallery and bring back a new version of the Lincoln show and exhibit to the Opera House.

I was thinking that this location would be good for the gallery, not as good as NOS, but better than the Opera House.

    This is GREAT news!!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Because keeping people w/ disabilities who can't climb stairs out of the gallery was special...

Well... heck... They've added an elevator now, haven't they?

Disney apparently budgeted for the elevator while they still had it planned to be used for retail space. We would have had an elevator had they not moved it.

Unfortunately, that would be a great way to get the source fired - it is NEVER a good idea to put a Disney employee in harm's way by outing them on any discussion board.

But I can tell you that Skywaygirl has very credible sources.

Sorry, I didn't want you to drop any names. I just wasn't sure if you had found this information on another site or something.

My apologies. Thanks for the news.

Re: The Gallery is Coming Back

Awww, when I clicked onto this thread I was hoping to read that they cancelled a Year of a Million Dreams and that the gallery was returning to its old location better than ever.

I suppose I'll take Opera House location over anything, but it really isn't as special as it was in New Orleans Square in Walt's hopeful apartment spot. It was also just great to look out over the balcony and watch the rivers of america. To admire the surroundings.

The Opera House in my opinion is too close to Disneyanna which also services the same type of audience. Having multiple locations for high end merchandise is something I want to remain at Disneyland.

Re: The Gallery is Coming Back

    * The Gallery will be set up in the exit area of the Opera House, where the pictures of new attractions were placed.

*The gallery should be be completed by the end of the week

*The Gallery is not taking over the Opera House, nor is it any sign of kicking out the 50th exhibit nor bringing back Lincoln.

*It's probably not permanent. It's pretty much a guarantee that eventually a permanent location will be found elsewhere.

Re: The Gallery is Coming Back

ok this is pretty good news, not GREAT, but pretty dang good. what would of been better is if at the end of YOMD they decided to bring the gallery back in the same location. I think the new location makes pretty good sense... however it won't be the same as being in NOS, above ROA..
