Napa Rose New Year's Eve Party 2008

This is my first trip report, and I'm not a photographer....So with that in mind, here are some pictures I took of the New Year's Eve party at the Napa Rose.

I arrived at the GC at 7:20 and headed up to my friend's room. I was pleasantly surprised with this superb chardonnay.

We went down to the Napa Rose at about 8:00.....Welcome to Napa Rose!

    Wendy gave me some balloons.

Napa Rose New Year's Eve Party 2008

This is my first trip report, and I'm not a photographer....So with that in mind, here are some random pictures I took of the New Year's Eve party at the Napa Rose. I hope you enjoy.

    The calm before the storm.

Getting ready to feed the masses. (They're plating lobster souflets.)

    Chef Andrew Sutton (center)...kinda busy...

There was so much great wine....Mmmmmm!!

My friend Ralph having a toast with general manager Michael Jordan.

All the CMs are so nice and friendly!

Michael Jordan and Wendy getting festive.

Bartender par excellence Wallace. He was the ONLY bartender at the restaurant on New Year's Eve, and he did a great job....(even if you did forget my name when someone came looking for me.)

I had four going at the same time!

    Prepping for the big toast.

    Voila!!

Napa Rose New Year's Eve Party 2008

Here's the last four. Sorry I didn't get pics of supper. There was a choice of King Crab and other fish, or eye of ribeye, which is what I had. But check out this dessert! The entire thing is edible. With your fork, you break the white sugar shell and inside is a delicious chocolate cake.

CM's wishing each other Happy New Year!

    Some dancing...

And there you have it. The evening was so much fun. They put on a wonderful party, and everyone had a terrific time.

Sounds like it was a great time....

I've met Ralph before, since he always seems to be there.

How much did an evening like this set you back? If you don't mind me asking.

Not sure if I might have seen you, but I went in there to buy a bottle of Rosa Regale ... and I was wearing a ToT bathrobe. I have to admit looking around I would have loved to spend my new year's in there, the place was nice ... and most importantly warm!

I think it was $250 per person. Although I'm not sure if it was a set price or not since I didn't make the reservation. But our check was a little over $500 -- which caused my hangover to set in immediately!

I hope you are personal friends with these waitresses and they don't just bust out into casual and corny Sorority party poses for any Napa Rose guest with a camera.

Those pictures of the overly casual behavior of the employees make it look like you are at an employee birthday party at Coco's, instead of New Years Eve at an allegedly "fancy" restaurant that charged 185 dollars per person for their New Years Eve dinner like Napa Rose did.

Well I think it's sort of nice. If you explain to them that you would like to take their picture as a remembrance of your night, I would hope that they wouldn't turn you down.

Hmm, you have a valid point there regarding friendliness. But it still comes across as way too casual and unpolished to me, especially in these pictures of the staff. There's a way to act friendly and gracious, while still keeping an air of profesionalism and elegance. The pictures here of the Napa Rose staff don't look very elegant.

But then I have that issue with most of the staff at the Disneyland Resort hotels. They charge upper end Ritz Carlton prices, but you get mid-range Sheraton service. And very often that mid-range service isn't nearly as formal or profesional as it should be in many cases. New Years Eve at the Napa Rose looks to be a perfect example of that type of behavior and presentation.

Well, I do go there quite regularly and know most of the staff. So it was all in fun.

Ah, that helps explain it a bit. Thanks!

Still confirms my opinion of Napa Rose service overall though.
