Funny?! Scary?! Puzzling?!
What have you seen the DLR CMs pull from guest's bags, strollers, etc.?

My last visit on Tuesday:
saw a large pair of surgical scissors and a rusty serrated knife taken out of a woman's fanny pack. She was more than a little upset to hear that she could not bring this equipment into the park and that there was "no knife check". The 3 kids and friend she had with her weren't about to take it back to their car so she gave them as a present to the CM, who was pretty shaken up. The CM let them in and asked to me to hold the line so she could flag down her lead. She came back and opened the line again. I had to remind her to look in my bag to get her back on track - no weapons.

Scissors I can understand (it happened to my wife once). But a large serrated knife? What were they thinking? The possibilities boggle the mind. Maybe she thought she was going to have to cut her own way through the Jungle Cruise? Trim the bonsai on Storybookland Canal? Trim some topiaries at IASW?

She could have gotten a locker and put it there. My sister forgot that she had her swiss army knife keychain and the bag check lady just let her put it in a locker outside the park. Of course, this may have been when the bag checks were at the gate and not at the esplanade.

The CM did mention the lockers too, but parting w/ the $5 was apparently more painful than parting w/ weapons. Guess they didn't have that much sentimental value.

I dont know about over at the Esplanade but my friend is a Security Guard for a Government building and has seen some interesting things and gross ting form doing bag check.

One time we were behind this lady who was bringing what looked like a three course meal into the park. It was SO MUCH FOOD, three or four bags. I think this was also the morning that they wouldn't let me bring my bottled frappuccino into the park, even to finish it in the Esplanade, so I had to chug it right there.

Another time, I saw a lady take off her shoes to go through bag check. I guess she went through airports a lot and thought she knew the drill.

Last Fall, they were making people open their winter jackets. A woman in front of me refused to open her jacket. Told the cast member that she wasn't wearing anything under it. They let her in.

the evening of the lineup for the 50th we had big bags full of
blankets with us... wrapped in them I had one single bottle of frap
and 2 double shot cans - I got caught smuggling in the one frappuccino...
however, my friends mom went thru the line next to me and they let
her in with a whole 4 pack! go figure!!!
and we were just walking thru the esplanade to get to the actual line...
we were planning on drinking them to stay awake that night! argh!

I used a old party purse one time to go to Disneyland...Aparently I forgot to check the little zipper pouch inside and to my horror, upon inspection it turned out to be a bottle of ummm.....edible personal lubricant..Yikes! the CM looked at me with disbelief thinking I would use it in the park...I had never been sooooooo embarrassed.

the fraps are because they are GLASS. Broken glass in a park is not good and plus a glass bottle makes a sweet weapon! (not a CM it just makes sence to me)

I just have this picture of people squaring off around the Hub two hours before Remember, fending off their spaces with broken bottles in a scene reminiscent of the knife fight in "West Side Story".

Eh, I totally understood why I wasn't allowed to bring it in. But man, downing half a caramel frap in one go... WOO! That kept me good and wired for the first hour or so that I was in the park.

Heheh, NotAfraid and General You gave me a bottle of Nipponese sensual lube as a (joke?) gift from their trip to Japan while we were having drinks and snacks at Tortilla Jo's in DTD. Hahaha, I went through as many security checkpoints as I could find excuses to for the rest of the day, cause I loved the looks on the CMs' faces when they encountered the gigantoid, dildo-shaped, blue bottle of lubricant!
