"You take a chance getting up in the morning, crossing the street, or sticking your face in a fan." - Sgt. Frank Drebin, Detective Lieutenant Police Squad.

Everything is a chance. Anyone who says something is 100% safe is lying. True, some things are safer than others. But who thought there was any danger in America Sings?

Out of curiosity, what was that danger?
Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
    Marge: Pink.
    Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

I rode in the front once back in November and was really disturbed through the whole ride.

I am always there with my daughter, so obviously I worry. It's her favorite ride and just before the park closes she loves to ride it like 10 times in a row. So what I do is I just politely ask to sit as far back as possible. Otherwise I might poop my pants. And that is not hot.

Fortuneatley, Brandon Zucker has not passed away. He is still alive. For those of you wondering what he looks like, here is a photo:

Brandon has a fund established with Washington Mutal. You can get the information for it here:

You are indeed correct. However... no one is talking about the elephant in the room. What seems to put people on edge is that usually when guests die at Disneyland it's from natural causes or it's due to the general stupidity of the guest in general.

There have been many guests who have been killed due to standing up, getting out of and/or getting in front of ride vehicles. Oh sure it is sad that a few of different people were mangled and killed on the People Mover or the Monorail, but those guests actions contributed to their own demise. It's not like the maintenance (or lack their of it) on the People Mover was to blame.

The Big Thunder incident (not to mention the Sailing Ship Columbia nightmare) really make people scared. Scared because we as guests believed that DL was watching out for us. As it turns out they were letting the maintenance on Big Thunder slip and that caused some poor soul to die. The trust was broken. We trusted that if we remained seated and did our part that DL would at least TRY to do their part, and as we all know that didn't happen.

So that's it. That's why people are nervous. It's not like the guest jumped out of his seat and fell off the train - he died because he trusted that Disneyland was actually checking and maintaining the attraction correctly. Now things are different and no matter how hard we try - there are some of us who feel that the magic is lost because that trust was broken. There are some of us who feel betrayed.

Agreed 100%. The only 2 fatal accidents at DL where the guest dit not play the larger part are recent. The Columbia was just a stupid mistake on the part of the CM, which is not to excuse it. BTMR was a maintenance issue for which there is no excuse whatsoever.
