    Re: Accident at Disneyland 7.29.05

It did not appear that there was very much damage on the cars. The shock absorbers on the front took all the impact.

From the pictures it appears that neither train derailed, at least. We can hope this is a case of minor neck/back injuries....

Good news, only 14 people were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. It was an accident at a slow speed.

    Re: Accident at Disneyland 7.29.05

    Saw this at MI Boards:
    The Latest:
48 people on the ride during the impact. 14 people with minor injuries, 13 people were evaluated walked away, 21 additional people being evaluated, approx 100 firefighters and ambulances on seen. This from John Nicoletti (Anaheim PR), he says it happened at a relatively low rate of speed.

    Good News!

Just talked to SunnyG! Her and Anders are fine, they were just making their way into DCA and had no idea what was going on.

Glad to hear that it doesn't look serious!!

    Re: Accident at Disneyland 7.29.05

It was just on the news. Here's the deal:

48 People were on the ride when one car presumable rear ended another.

It is believed that the incident happened at a low speed, since injuries were minor

14people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries

13 People were realeased with no injuries

21 People are still being examined and will either be released or sent to the hospital

Thats what I remember; take it with a grain of salt as I may have been slightly off on the numbers.

    Re: Accident at Disneyland 7.29.05

Unfortunately I think Disney knew about this problem previously. I remember hearing before that the ride almost got into an accident at that same area. What I heard was that at the top of the helix is a emergency brake and it did not engage during a break down. Thank god last time the cast member saw the malfunction and hit the E stop button. This time I dont know if the people were as lucky.

Disney is really in bad straights lately; what with all of these accidents happening at their theme parks.

I guess the parks torture they inhibit on the rides are finally showing. They run these rides 7 days a week up to 16 hours a day not including testing at night.

I'm glad you did! I was glad you confirmed it, I wasn't sure the info was reliable.
