    Roger Rabbit

Can someone please explain why Roger Rabbit is no longer featured in the Fantasmic! Finale, or anywhere in the Disneyland Resort for that matter?

The reasons may be old news for many of you, but I have no idea why he would be absent from the Fantasmic! Foursome; Goofy, Pluto, Roger Rabbit, X.

    Thank you.

*By the way, I enjoyed seeing Disney Synergy at work when Fantasmic! would feature new additions to the Disney Family by placin' em at the back of the Mark Twain.

Lilo and Stitch, when their movie came out. Buzz and Woody, when the sequel was released.

Pure genius. I lust for Disney Synergy!!!
    *People JUDGE me too quickly...

    Re: Roger Rabbit

Way back when they were making the original movie, they wanted cartoon characters from Warners as well as there own Disney characters. WB said no way. Disney contacted Speilberg, told him what was planned and Speilberg basically went to WB and using his clout told them to do it. Since he, and a couple others, were the ones responsible, they got a cut of the take from the movie. Steven Speilberg owns half interest in the Roger Rabbit Character. Therefore, every time Roger makes an appearance at any Disney Theme Park, Spielberg gets his two cents worth. Disney got tired of doing this. He wanted more. Etc, etc. That's the main reason there has been no sequel to the movie. Everybody wants their 2 cents and Disney doesn't like sharing. So, for the foreseeable future, no more Roger Rabbit charaters at Disney Theme Parks. I miss him too.

Roger Rabbit/Jessica never felt like Disney characters to me. He can stay back in his Toontown corner, IMO. Now don't kill me!

ORWEN: I miss my fluffy little white bunny, too!! Of COURSE he's part of the Disney character family--just like Mickey, Pooh Bear, Pinocchio and even us Cauldron girls! So don't even LOOK like you're gonna' be so mean and hateful by trying to banish poor Roger from his fans.

ORDDU: Rumors have recently surfaced on other web-footed sites that Roger MIGHT be making a come-back some day. The fact that there is still merchandise popping up every now and then might be an indication that this is true. Still, we'll have to wait and see...

ORDDU: Before we forget, my sisters and I were just conjuring up an interesting tid-bit inside our crystal ball last night, regarding Roger Rabbit. As it turns out, Charles Fleischer will be appearing at the FX Convention in Orlando, FL on January 26-27th of 2008. As most of you probabaly already know, Charles did the voices of both Roger Rabbit and Benny the Cab.

ORWEN: Yeah, and you can bet us cauldron girls are gonna' be at the Orlando Convention Center on International Drive to see him that weekend!!!

    ORGOCH: Got tickets?

    Re: Roger Rabbit

Right after Who Framed RR opened, during that Christmas Season at Disneyland, Roger had a show in a tent in the area that is now the Hunchback Show area. Also he had a photo spot with Bennie the cab. After that year's Ren Faire about 18 of us went as a group to Disneyland. The show hadn't opened yet, but the photo spot was open. In glancing at the Park Map on the way in, I saw where it was but didn't say anything. Sure enough at one point we suddenly split up and I was being led the long way round to that photo spot. I played along like I didn't know what was going on and soon we came around a corner and there were the rest of the group standing in front of Roger's spot.

I was made to go stand in line with all the little kids and a guard was put on me to keep me from running away. As if. When I got down to the next in line spot, I saw that one of the members of the group had a really nice 35mm camera (this was back in the days of film) and as the person in the spot with Roger left, he turned as the two Cast Member handlers yelled out, together, as loud as they could, "Hey Roger, This is your #1 fan"! Well Roger turned and saw me and came running down the ramp and ran right into me and lifted me up (whoever was in that costume was male and very strong). I ended up in the car, with roger sitting on the rumble seat cover behind and just messing me up. Ruffling my hair and hugging and just carrying on like the looney rabbit he is. I noticed the girl with the camera was just clicking away like mad. This went on for about 10 minutes before he finally let me go and I got out of the car, received a bone crushing hug from Roger and went down the out ramp to meet up with my friends, who where all cheering and clapping. It was a very happy day for me, as Roger Rabbit was the character who brought me back to Disneyland and Disney in general after a long absence due to working at the Ren Fair as a Guildmaster in charge of Queen's Court.

Later I got word that the first four pictures on the roll, which were taken prior to this photo op with Roger came out fine. The other 24 pictures did not come out. Only black fog on the film. I saw her taking pictures and the lens cap was off the camera so that wasn't the problem. They just didn't come out. The next year the Faire moved to San Bernardino and we had to do a big presentation to the Mayor and City Council who wanted to welcome us to their city. Of course the actor who usually accompanied the Queen was up North and could not make it down for one day. So, being that during Faire I also escorted the Queen, carried The Sword of State and called her entrance. So I was chosen to do the same thing for this "Event". We were in her dressing room at the Hotel and she was putting the finishing touches on becoming the Queen. The actress who played the Queen was a good friend, was a Roger Rabbit fan and knew that I was too. I told her the story about the pictures not turning out.

She turned in her chair and looked right at me at said, "You do know why those pictures didn't turn out don't you"? I replied No. She looked at me again with "That Look" and this is what she said, "For you that moment with Roger was Magic, and you can't photograph Magic"! Good enough for me. The Queen said it so it must be true!

I have to say that I agree. There's trips that I don't even go near that ride. It's kindof there! It's one of the very few rides I don't care if I ride or not.

I really like that. That's cute.

I never got to meet Roger. Which is a bummer, I'm a HUGE Jessica Rabbit fan. (I think it's cause i'm a red-haired Jessica, too)

    Re: Roger Rabbit

There is additional Roger Rabbit merchandise that shows up in DL.
A couple of Valentines pins with Roger and Jessica were recently
released. There are Jessica shirts that have been showing in the
men's department at DL, even the Disney Stores have had some
Jessica shirts. Roger and Jessica figurines/ornaments/boxes/Big figs
have been in the World of Disney Store. There is a Roger Rabbit/Lenny
the Cab wind up toy that I saw in DL and DCA over New Years. But
yes, the selection is sparse. I am a big Roger Rabbit fan too, and wish
there was more Roger merchandise without Jessica. And DL can have Roger
in any parades and shows, as he did appear in the parade at DL during 45th
    thru 49th years.

But lets face it, DL merchandising is doing a crappy job of placing a good
mix of character on their merchandise. Men's clothing is definitey WAY OVER-
    LOADING with grumpy merchandise ~gaaaahhhh! Kid's clotrhing/t-shirts
ALWAYS get MUCH better and more fun designs than Adult size T-shirts.
I love Baloo, but the only shirt that was done for the Jungle Book release on
dvd last year wasn't at DL, it was at the Disney Store ~ They had a great
design, BUT even they screwed up with having much of the shirt done in
Yellow ~ not exacty a color I like, nor do most men.

Mechandising is simply doing a lousy job. Roger is a GREAT characters
for guys who have a great sense of humor.

I demand more Alice t-shirts. The selection is not good at all. So I see where you're coming from.

I collect Jessica, and Roger too, I have a few pins of both. But they make all Roger Rabbit shirts in men's that I like, and the ones in the girls sizes are just... not very good designs. I think I've seen ONE Jessica shirt for girls. It's really a bummer.

And there's a lack of a lot of characters (Pocahontas? Whos' that?).

They need to put more variety out!
