A Lovely Afternoon in the Park Jan. 12

Because I had a meeting in Cypress this morning I decided to head over to the park for the afternoon when it was finished. It was a really lovely day - clear and just warm enough not to have to wear a jacket or a sweater.

I went on a few rides (Indy, Canoes, Small World Holiday, Buzz, Mark Twain and saw the Billy Hill show twice ).

Here are some pictures of other things I saw today:

I ate lunch at Hungry Bear and noticed this Great Egret. He must hang around that area as I noticed him later in the afternoon when I was on the Mark Twain. He's very pretty.

Walking around I caught the show in front of the castle

I enjoy taking reflection photos of the castle (see my avatar of one I took at Christmas

I went over to Small World which is still up and is still in Holiday mode.

I think this little Egyptian girl is cute

    I boarded at this time

Only a few of my indoor pictures came out as I won't use flash and my camera won't handle this kind of stuff so I was surprised any came out

Pulling in to dock at this time

Later in the afternoon I came over to the Small World area where the parade starts and got these photos.

The reason I like this photo is because the light is reflecting off of one of Tink's sequins though I wish she had been looking my way

I got a kick out of this when I saw it. Don't know if he's trying to eat her or kiss her

No reason for this picture. Just because.

Took a trip on the Mark Twain around 4:30 and liked this shot coming around the bend toward the dock

I always try to make the effort to attend the flag lowering in the late afternoon. Today both the band and the Dapper Dans performed. I was pleased to see a number of veterans/service people come forward to stand around the flag when their song was being played.

I was especially moved to see this former Marine slowly walk up to the flag pole area

Getting ready to lower the flag

I never deliberately go looking for a picture to end these reports with. They sort of just happen.

    THE END

You have some seriously great shots there Wendygirl. I've been looking for the Dapper Dans since I heard one of my former students made it in, and I think I see him in that shot you took. Nice job with the parade shots and that little girl at the end is too cute.

I also like your ROA shot. The late afternoon sun can be amazing in the Winter. Glad you had a great time!

    Thanks for your great shots!

Not as bad as at Christmas time or the day after New Years. Crowded but not unbearable. Week days right now should be really good.

Here are some close ups I took of the Dapper Dans. Which one might he be?

Wendy - the pics are just absolutely spectacular! I just love threads about the "details of Disneyland" that so many people just never get the chance to see.

You did a marvelous job with these, and thanks so much for sharing these pictures with us!

I saw the Dapper Dans out today too, in front of the Emporium. For some reason their costumes reminds me of Fruit Stripe gum.
