Classy and subtle wouldn't stand out in fancy, highly-saturated, practically-perfect publicity shots of the first family going up to the Dream Suite, now would it?

So....... how many people are gonna be playing ding dong ditch on the place now that they'll all know what's up there? Almost a "You got something I don't get to have! Ha! This will keep you annoyed! *knock knock knock*!"

It is that indeed. It actually looks far more like Sleeping Beauty Castle than the old "Disneyland Castle Logo" you posted earlier, so I must commend them on this.

I'm not so concerned about the castle logo, personally. I have seen worse uses of Cinderella Castle to represent Disneyland than this logo. Its not the best, but its not the worst either.

I'm more concerned with the gaudy rd and ld, and the large sign over the door that opus1 pointed out. And I understand the need for sdecurity but that security camera sitting right there just screams Las Vegas. With today's technology couldn't they have been more discreet in the placement of this camera? There's many other places in the park that are much older and you would never know that cameras are there.

Well, in all fairness, those are typically dark interior spaces where there's a lot to look at and a lot of nooks and crannies. It's a lot harder to hide the camera in broad daylight, among relatively simple architecture. (Not trying to say NOS is simple!) I don't like the look of the camera either, but I'd consider it far more of a necessity than the signs.

The sign over the door...ugh. Well, I guess I'll look at it this way--now the ground-level sign doesn't look all that bad to me by comparison!

And yes, the castle is more related to Sleeping Beauty than Cinderella in terms of the details. But stretching it vertically gives it the feel of the WDW castle. To me at least, it implies that our castle isn't big enough. You know, the whole insecure "Mine's bigger than yours!" sort of thing. I could understand and even support the decision to stretch it a little--that would make sense, since looking at a structure like Sleeping Beauty Castle in orthographic, blueprintlike form is far less impressive than standing beneath it, looking up at it. But what they've done with this castle logo is unabashed WDW mimicry. Not as huge a deal as what we're making it out to be, and DEFINITELY not anything new, but still troublesome.

- Datameister, who's perfectly content with the size of his castle

After watching the video I posted on on page 4-5 (can't remember exactly) I don't care whats on the outside, I just want to stay on the inside!! Wow! It's like an exact copy of Walts original apartment he designed for that space, you know.. the one that would of been off limits to everyone. And the train sounds amazing!

^^Thanks for the visual aids, AURA--and great observational skills. Of course, it will likely be disregarded and/or swallowed up by the negative propaganda machine that is working three shifts to keep up a steady stream of denouncement for this promotion, regardless of reasonable observations like yours. Good Job!

Re: New Disneyland Dream Suite signage - What do you Think?

Here's a couple more shots from yesterday...

They've added this to the roof...

KIDDING!

Not sure if the "D" was in the doors prior to the remodel:

Gates have been installed to keep out the riff raff...i.e. us non dream suite winners...

Possibly a door bell or call box?

Not sure if the bird cage is new...

I think the reason I like the gold lettering is that I COMPLETELY missed the letters when they were the same color as the railing. I thought these were new until I looked back at some earlier shots:

It may be a bit on the gaudy side, but I don't think it would stick out if seen on Bourbon Street. My first thought yesterday was..."Hey...look at that! They added Walt and Roy's initials!"

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate the signage. It is gaudy and tacky and it reminds me of the horrible display of coporate idiocy happening up there.

I like the signage. It's very similar to the Disney Gallery signage.
Can't see where all the hates come from.

You're right - that part is definitely not gold.

But it's kind of an upside down mirror on the "RD" one. Where the two bits are still turquoise on the "WD" portion, there are two bits that kind of mirror that, but they look more like waves almost.

Maybe it was intentional to leave it as a more decorative element rather than missing a chunk of "W".
