New Disneyland Dream Suite signage - What do you Think?

Stopped by the park yesterday afternoon, and found the signage up, while they are still rushing to finish the Dream Suite by the weekend.

Personally, I don't like they are using the "Generic" Castle Logo.... Heck it is the DISNEYLAND Dream Suite, at least they could use an image of the Sleeping Beauty Castle!

I like the sign, though I wish it weren't there.

I just like it. I don't know why.

Feh - not well put together and not very "dreamy". I agree that the "D" is elegant and will add that I love the blue background. However, it just looks like unImagineering when they slap the other elements on.

Very similar to the previous Disney Gallery sign...understated, etc.

One other thing I noticed which gets me just as ticked off. The wrought iron on the balcony now has the hidden "wd" and "rd" highlighted in gold paint! Another one of those hidden Disneyland secrets that management is letting slip out!!!

I like the sign. I think it's nice, a little understated, which is good. I'm just happy there isn't some huge garish sign in neon lights!

I'm OK with the new sign but will always prefer when it was the gallery.

Re: New Disneyland Dream Suite signage - What do you Think?

Just a personal preference but if it is being advertised on air as Walt Disney's Dream Suite, then why isn't it labeled accordingly? They could easily have made a sign similar to the old Gallery sign, possibly with minor artistic flair.

Good point. I am sooooooo glad we don't have those rainbow swans all over the balcony.

Doh! Maybe I just gave someone an idea.

I'm going to miss the gallery.

You're right. I hate that generic logo, time has shown that people hate when Disney uses a silhouette rather than an image. I mean, look at the old Disneyland sign, people hated the look of that...

Agree. But hey...that's just Marketing using its clout and calling the shots. Disney Parks all the way, baby.

Sign looks okay, I guess. I just hope Guests don't take it as an advertisement to "Come on up!" whenever they feel like it.

I bet the first couple dozen families of the Suite are going to enjoy the usual fumes from recently applied paint, wall coverings, and carpet. Could be pretty heady up there for awhile!

I think the sign is pretty. I really like that they kept the same look as the one for the Gallery.

Re: New Disneyland Dream Suite signage - What do you Think?

Yuck. The old Disney Gallery sign had a certain flair and simplicity to it, though it certainly wasn't one of my favorite signs in the park. Its success relied on what wasn't there--it was simple, and it worked. This DreamSuite sign smacks of commercialism to me. I really want to like it...but I can't. The generic castle is unwelcome, as usual, and the proximity of the words "Dream" and "Suite" make it look like "DreamSuite." I concede that the D is nice. But wouldn't the name "Disney Suite" be a little more elegant, and less focused on a supposedly yearlong campaign that very well may last until the park's hundredth anniversary? On the off chance that the YOAMD does stop anytime soon, the suite will still bare the Dream stigma. To what point and purpose?

I guess my biggest problem with it is this: it doesn't look like something from turn-of-the-century New Olreans, at least not to me. The old sign was...borderline. It still jumped out a little, but it felt much more refined and simple and organic. It belonged a lot more. The DreamSuite sign...well, it practically screams, "Hey, look what you DIDN'T win today!"

Argh, I hate writing negative posts.
