Thanks to the CM for not over reacting. Things could have been worse.

And that is one smart horse. Smarter than the execs who run the place, that's for sure! Lol

People don't parent anymore, they try to be their kid's friend.

I'll bet it wasn't the first time the little girl has run off, so that would explain the non yelling and screaming. I'm not surprised by this story, but that it doesn't happen more often. Parenting has sunk to it's all time low, and unless people teach their kids to be better than themselves, it can only sink lower.

This has been a Filmways presentation dahling.

I can't picture how this looked... especially this part:
She literally had her head underneath the horses hoof.
How high do a horses hooves come off the ground when it's walking? Did the girl lie down in the street? Or did the OP not mean to write the word "literally"?

Driver may have given a verbal cue to the horse that you didnt' hear. Thank GOD nothing happened. If something had happened you KNOW there would have been a law suite and no more horses. Kid does somthing STUPID and we blame the animal. HMMM wonder what that remindes me of???

WOW! That little girl got lucky that DL is smart enough to "hire" horses that know what they are doing despite bad parenting, naughty kids and all around idiots!!

The horse should be moved immediately into the TDA building. He clearly has more sense that the current building inhabitants.

Horses are incredibly smart and intuitive.

A Clydesdale is a huge horse, folks. You stick a little 5 year old girl and she'll look like an ant next to one...to be more precise, would probably come up at most to the horse's knees.

Parents need to parent. A child is not some cute accessory to your wardrobe. They are living beings, they are the future. They need to be loved and taken care of. I know there are still good parents out there, but honestly...

Fantastic well trained horse. Let's not forget the trainers that teach and condition the Disneyland horses to be so great. Thank you

She literally had her head underneath the horses hoof. The horse was startled and immediatley stopped in it's tracks. I'm not even sure I saw the ride operator pull back the reins! There just wasn't any time! It seemed like the horse knew to stop immediatley when the little girl got too close, it was scary.

    What was more scary?

The parents or grandparents or whoever was with her didn't say a thing.

They smiled and patted her on the back and chuckled.

The ride operator just sort of stood there for a minute and took a deep breath and then got the horse going again.

I'm sorry, but if that was my kid?

Holy moley, she'd be getting her EAR chewed off.

Anyway, kudos to the cast member and the horse!!!
The AA horses used on Main Street USA vehicles are programmed with sensors and stop whenever something is too close.

You pull on the reins, and the horse lifts, and kicks.

That is why they trained the horse to instinctively stop.

It's not training, horses instinctivly don't like to step on people, and will usually avoid it when possible. She is lucky though, a horse's biggest blind spot is directly in front of him.
The horse couldn't have been trotting down main street, I have never seen a horse at Disney land trot. The horse was walking, they are actually two different gaits. I don't think the horses are clydesdales either. They are a type of draft horse, same as a clydesdale.
