Perhaps someone has a picture they can post, but has anyone noticed the sign inside Soarin' Over California the reads "You are cleared for takeoff"?
Is it just me, or is that incorrect grammar? Shouldn't it read "You are clear for takeoff" or "You have been cleared for takeoff"?
Funny how stuff like this can slip through the cracks.
When you fly you have to be cleared by the flight tower for take off so you radio them and they radio you back telling you that you are cleared for take off so it's right.
Looks right to me.

Well...that's a gray area, grammatically. Yeah, they'd be safer with one or the other, though.

sad thing is ive worked at Soarin for almost a year. i didnt even notice. haha. ohh patrick.
Knowing several pilots myself and having listened in on more tower to pilot conversations than I can count, they say any combination of the above. "You are cleared for", "Clear for", "Cleared for", etc...

The word "clear" is used as a verb here, so it's fine. You are cleared or you have been cleared are fine. They cleared you; you are the object receiving the action of the verb.
In "You are clear" it is used as an adjective, but kind of sounds like you've gone transparent on us.

To me the most glaring error is in the video where the guy that plays Puddy on Seinfeld says he's the chief flight attendant yet his uniform has pilot strips on the sleeves. (Can't remember if its three or four; three is for a first officer, four is for the pilot.) Of all the things, you'd think Disney would have done a little research on. Many times I go to the parks with co-workers (why not since we fly free) and everyone points it out.
Maybe it's just something that those in the aviation industry would notice but I always thought Disney was a stickler for the details.
