Re: House of the Future at DL returns in May

At least they are finally making additions to a land that has been spiraling into a black hole. Oooo, there's an idea....a ride based on Disney's Black Hole movie.....

    New House of the Future

Forgive me if this is being discussed elsewhere already, but I just ran across this news item:

    full article here: http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080213/disne...ouse.html?.v=7

    Some highlights:
Disney Revives 'House of the Future' to Showcase Technology
The 5,000-square-foot home, scheduled to open in May, will look like a suburban tract home outside. But inside it will feature hardware, software and touch-screen systems that could simplify everyday living.
The $15 million Innoventions Dream Home is a collaboration of The Walt Disney Co., Microsoft Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., software maker LifeWare and homebuilder Taylor Morrison.
Visitors will experience the look of tomorrow by watching Disney actors playing a family of four preparing for a trip to China.

Anyone hear specifically where this is going to be built? It sounds like concepts we've heard for Innoventions exhibits, except this doesn't seem to be anything that would be inside the Innoventions building.

WHOA.... is DL ready for this...? I never got to go into the old one, but this should be interesting. I wonder where exactly it's going to located in Tomorrowland...?

It's taken over the entire downstairs of the Innoventions building. No more Tom-Morrow!

Yep, just a big advertisement for Microsoft on the ground floor of Innoventions. 15 million for something that won't draw a single extra visitor per day into that god forsaken "attraction".

Re: New House of the Future

This makes that Bibleland park look like a better idea with each passing moment.

I'm guessing most visitors to Tomorrowland will 'passover' this exhibit. Even though it's not in DCA it's already DOA. Microsoft would be better off spending the money on a better bid for Yahoo.... or give a free Zune to anyone who should mistakenly stumble into the House of the Future looking for the restroom. Wait a minute, they want people to enjoy the attraction.. Perhaps they should give out iPods instead

    But who knows...

Re: New House of the Future

I got a better idea... why not turn the building into a 'Yesterland' type attraction. where they could have the country bears, America Sings, Circlerama or other extict shows?

    Yesterland in Tomorrowland? How interesting...

How is it going to look like a "suburban tract home outside" if it's INSIDE the innoventions building? WTHull?

It could look like the one in Epcot. That one is also inside another buidling.
