    Has anyone else tried RideMax?

    Hi,

This is my first post so I don't know if anyone has posted this topic before but...

I used RideMax for a trip on July 21st and it worked like a dream. If you don't know what it is, it is downloadable ($14.95) software that you get at http://www.ridemax.com that plans your day at Disneyland to maximize your ride time and cut down on your wait time.
The longest we had to wait in line was 25 minutes - and that was for stupid Roger Rabbit. And we got to ride Space Mountain 3 times! The only flaw in it was that it worked too well and we ended up way ahead of schedule.

Just curious if anyone else has tried it.... and if they liked it.
When I was little I couldn't decide if I wanted to be Snow White or Wonder Woman when I grew up. You can call me "Wonder White"....or maybe "Snow Woman"?

I tried it about a year ago and yes, it worked pretty well. I haven't looked at it since. Have they adjusted it for the Fastpass machines that have since been removed?

I don't think I want to pay more to ride rides, since I'm an AP holder and can go anytime, but it might be great for someone who is just visiting.

It's really easy to use. You download it from the site and install it - it's good for 3 months.

They have painstakingly gathered crowd statistics for Monday-Saturday for every season at the park and take everything into consideration, including FastPass machines that aren't networked together.

You enter the date of your planned trip and select all the rides that you want to go on. Then it runs through 100's of millions potential scenarios and spits out your schedule which looks something like:

8:07 Get Space Mountain Fast Pass 0 min wait 1 min ride time 2 min walk to next attraction

8:10 Buzz Light Year Astro Blasters 5 min wait 5 min ride time 10 min walk to next attraction

etc. You end up with lots of Free Time to and it lets you schedule breaks if you need them (like if you have reservations at the Blue Bayou for lunch)

I was really worried that it would be too structured for my tastes - planned down to the second and all but it actually made things a lot easier. It totally cut down on the "What do we go on next" arguments and the aimless hunting for a line that looks short. You do need to be flexible. Like I said we ended up way ahead of schedule because our Space Mountain return time was earlier than they had planned on our schedule. The nice thing is that you can decide to chuck it and then pick it up again later if you want.

I'm ticked they don't schedule Sundays though because that's my next trip.

There's my problem then, I would never get to the Park by 8:00am, too much like work!

You can change your arrival time, but of course they recommend getting there as early as possible. One draw back was that it didn't let you schedule things like Parades and fireworks, just rides.

My best friend and I just got APs but she CAN NOT tolerate waiting in line for anything so $15 was chump change for the blessed lack of complaining on her part. Likewise for small children I'm guessing.....

sounds like a cool concept for those that are just there for a day or weekend that wants to maximize their rides/attractions that they go on.

Holy cow. What will they come up with next?
Well, light travels from the sun. Then, bounces off of our planet, and back into our eyes so we can perceive color. My body can intercept that light and dance around on it!

It would feel weird to do something like program this in.

Besides, I very rarely suffer any real lines and go only a couple times a year. I think there's an innate sense one develops for how to work the park and I don't think a computer program would improve my days there.

Now, if you don't have the ability to understand the park at that kind of level or be with someone who does, I'd say go for the program, sounds cool.

I saw an article about it in VIA magazine awhile back. I thought it sounded pretty cool. Nice to actually hear from someone who used it.

I don't know, part of the fun of a vacation at Disneyland is being SPONTANEOUS...I'm such a control freak in the real world that it's my one chance to be set free! I'm known to want to go on rides clear across the park on a whim...no planning for me!!

Re: Has anyone else tried RideMax?

I have heard nothing but wonderful, positive things about it. Haven't used it myself, but it's been highly reccommended to me.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
