    Annual Pass Gallery v2.0

Some time ago I started a thread showcasing the various Annual Passes I had in my collection. Unfortunately, that thread has been locked so I couldn't add to it. So I'm launching yet another one.

If you all have annual passes to add, please do so!

Here's my second Annual Pass purchased (i can't find my first). This one was renewed August 20th 1996, the month before I started college.

That pass pretty much didn't get much useage, since I got a job at the Disneyland resort a few months later. This ID pretty much gave me my Disneyland fix from 97-2001.

I decided that since I was graduated from college, I needed a real job, so when I finally started making some money again, I bought this pass in March 2001.

That boring design lasted two years. And then we got the following boring design for 2003-2005.

    2005 introduced this special pass..

2006 introudced a favorite AP design of mine in some time...

A decade after I started getting into APs, I get this in the mail..

Too bad the "year of a million dreams" promotion had to continue and here is the latest and not greatest of the annual passes:

So that's my collection. Which ones do you guys have that are different?

(opus1guy, i know you have some oldies but goodies!)

An actual Annual Passport from 1985:

    And one from 1990:

Then from 1993, this cousin of the Annual Passport...the Seasonal "After 5pm" Summer Night Passport:

I've noticed just in the last 4 ap cards, the plastic seems to get thinner and thinner. Were those old cards from the 80's and 90's very flimsy? or were they more substantial?

Liane, I was just looking at my cards today and they are getting thinner and thinner.
Did you know that WDW doesn't even have a card for AP Holders? There AP's are made of paper.

Ok David I took a picture of my AP cards and I started in 1997

I haven't renewed this year yet but I will this month. So I will be getting the Minnie and Donald special card.

This year will be 11 years that I am an AP user.

I think you would consider the 80's and 90's cards as more substantial (they certainly were stiffer). They were card stock run through a hot plastic lamination machine. The Polaroid photo head shot was punched out and then placed on a cardstock AP background, then that was placed in a clear plastic sleeve, and then the whole thing was run through the hot laminater, sealing it all together.

Sometimes Guests even had to do some additional trimming around the clear plastic edges, so that the AP would fit in their wallet slots.

These were exactly the same machines and the same system that the old laminated Cast Member ID Cards were made with at the time. And in the case of the 1985 example shown above, they just created an AP "background" in place of the Cast ID background.

My favorite one was the one with Walt walking through the castle.

I'm guessing the APs got thinner, in the hopes that they'd be using those card readers where you insert your card and it pops out at the other end, like a BART ticket.

That would be cool only they would need to staff it still to make sure nobody is transferring the passes to other people.

And Opus only one of your images shows up for me!

Try Refresh-ing the page. Or right-click on the red X and select "Show Picture." That might help.

True, true, but then they'd only have to put one person to watch both turnstiles, instead of two scanning on both sides.

Our AP's have gotten flimsier over time. I don't like it...they break much easier. My favorite was the one with Goofy on the front resting his head in his hands!

YAY its the gay couple one
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
