I think if you don't hear a spiel in English you should complain due to the fact that as an English speaking native of the U.S.A. I have to sit through spiels in 4 languages!

Kidding or not, I knew someone was going to say that. I'd say the more humble and less "WE MUST BE INCLUDED IN EVERYTHING" approach is better and less...well...less of a comment on current affairs.

It was my understanding that they were going to use landmarks like Golden Gate, the Arch, Mt Rushmore, New York Skyline, Rocky Mountains, Statue of Liberty etc. Which is basically what they have in every other set... landmarks that are easily recognized. The question is which landmarks are they planning on using, because we have a lot of different things in the US, and only so much space in the Small World scene.

This is the Disneyland Paris version of the attraction. At about 4:00 minutes into the video one can see the USA section that was created. There is quite a difference between the visual style of the attraction found at Disneyland and the one at Disneyland Paris. Gone are the striking colors and simple geometries, replaced by more elaborate and realistic sets. A beautiful attraction, but still worlds different from Blair's original.

Do you happen to have pictures? I appreciate the video, but the colors were really off and it was hard to see a lot of things due to the low rez and low lighting. Thank you for the attempt though.

I think I got a little bit motion sickness from watching that video, but I get the gist of it. It looks nothing like Mary Blair's work.

It looks like SUPERSTAR LIMO with small world dolls.

To all the "wait and see" folks, I've waited not very long but saw quite enough. If they're replicating what Paris got, it's going to look awful. AWFUL.

That is a very big IF, there is talk of adding in characters and a new scene. I am shocked the rainforest is being taken out. I hope they find a suitable place to possibly put it back in. At the same time there is talk of the USA addition. Certainly there is a lot of potential change. It will be interesting to see how they plan to integrate the dolls, characters, new scenes and old scenes into one cohesive attraction. And then we have bigger "heavy load bearing" boats to try and sink!

I'll try to find more later in the day, after classes. One thing these pictures make quite clear is that the inspirations for the changes at Disneyland are quite different from the original attraction.

Re: Save the Rainforest - Keep "it's a small world" a classic.

I would like to point out that they deliberately went into a different direction at DLP. The facade there was done in a different style as well.

I prefer the Blair style (can't beat that genuine Mid Century vibe), but I don't blame Disney for not trying to replicate it in Paris -- The original attraction was/is still there anyway, and why try to artificially mimic someone's style when that someone is long dead. At least Disney was ambitious enough to try something new back in the early '90s.

Thank You, while I see a difference in styles I am excited to see how they plan on blending everything.

Small World Changes OFFICIAL! Underground....

As of TODAY, Official as in, it seems only ppl IN WDI or connected to WDI seem to know this IS on and happening. From MouseInfo and Re-Imagineering.

Its basically official now and the changes are set to happen. This is a change that many people within the halls of Glendale do not want compared to the few that do. They are hoping that with the help of Fans and the public that Iger, Lassitor and key WDI see that there is more support against the change and basically stop it before its too late

To those of you who think this is a rumor. It isn't.. WDI is currently making mock-ups of the characters even now. Nemo, Toy story , the fab five all are bieng worked into the sets. and reluctantly I might add. Much of Imagineering isn't greatly pleased to do this but they have their orders. I don't know what John thinks of this but even Tony Baxter doesn't seem bright and cheery about it but he too is getting pressure.

We must step up our efforts NOW! We MUST write Lassiter and Iger and please what a disastrous decision this is. Wear the SAVE THE RAINFOREST shirts to the park and hold meets at the attraction ala Mr Toad. Go to City Hall and voice concerns. We must stop them NOW and save this artistic masterpiece!!

Re: Small World Changes OFFICIAL! Underground....

It is kind of funny how one moment, it's "that schmaltzy ride with the song" and the next, it's an "artistic masterpiece"...

(I do agree though.)
