this whole thing sounds to bad to be true! This is just craziness. Who whispered something to who to bring about this madness!?

I was trying to convince a friend to write a letter and she said, "well besides the preservation of the ride what do we get? do we get a certificate that says 'WE were right'?" That to me that says a lot. If nothing drastic happens to the ride how can we be sure we didn't completely make fools of ourselves? On the same token didn't a similar situation happen with Lincoln? save for the pixar/disney charicters

It has more to do with disney not putting an animation file out in a very long time and the last few were not very good. Everyone remember "Home on the Range" back in 2004?

I remember! Sucks to have a good memory sometimes.

Re: Save the Rainforest - Keep "it's a small world" a classic.

I think the person who said that "Nemo, Toy Story, and 'the fab five'" would be added was exaggerating a bit...it would make zero sense at all and wouldnt really fit in any of the scenes. Things like ISAW-style Peter Pan and Tink dolls flying around Big Ben make sense, but this? no way.

Also, what they've released of the HK sets seems to follow the geometric Blair style, not DLP's.

Disneyland Paris' IASW, like the rest of the park, was experimental and very expensive and probably regretted instantly by Disney's accounting team. We may want parts of it Xeroxed elsewhere, but Disney is clearly hesitant to.
The sets in the models all seem a lot more elaborate than Blair's more simplistic geometric representations. I guess it would be better to say that Hong Kong Disneyland's sets are neither as simplistic as Disneyland's, nor as elaborate as Disneyland Paris'.

Re: Save the Rainforest - Keep "it's a small world" a classic.

I will cite two recent "campaigns" that worked, both of which had some coverage in the media or on the internet. Jericho, and Supernatural were both slated to be canceled. In both cases the fans wrote the networks. In Jericho's case they sent things in (peanuts) to prove their devotion. They didn't stop with the networks, they flooded every major website asking as many questions as possible, even if they knew the answers. This kept the shows on everyone's mind, and anyone doing a search was greeted with some form of this show. They convinced family, friends, and co-workers to watch in an attempt to boost ratings. Because of all this "buzz" local media picked it up, and the sheer force of the public kept the shows on the air. Supernatural has now been renewed for season 4 and continues to hold a strong following, and Jericho is one of the most popular late night shows on Tuesday which is typically considered a slow night! To these fans, a campaign was not limited to one or two sites and a couple sporadic letters. It was organized, and effective. IF anyone on here is serious about trying to preserve Small World then I strongly suggest learning from these two very successful campaigns. To me... talk is cheap... actions are what count.

You have the perfect formula for a positive change. It is reported that Imagineers are reluctant to change Small World. Small World is considered an icon of Disneyland and holds sentimental value to a lot of people. Small World has history, and there are plenty of facts that can be asked to a variety of sites. Most importantly you have time, and several mediums; internet, newspapers, television... in which to present your case. What happens now is up to everyone who feels this is important enough to fight for.

Don't look to me, I've got Supernatural and the J.C. While I will miss the rainforest of Small World I will be able to take solace in a real boat ride through the Jungles of Adventure!

Interesting how everyone seems to whine about IASW and how much they hate it, but, now a whole thread is about it. haha! I've always loved it, and, I'm sick they are changing it.

It's not my favorite ride and I don't care if they change it or if they leave it the way it is.

Would you prefer Meet the Robinsons or Chicken Little go into Small World?

To me, there's no difference. It's forcing something that doesn't belong. Disney, Pixar, whatever.

Re: Save the Rainforest - Keep "it's a small world" a classic.

As long as the additions are in the same style as the Small World dolls, I anticipate this being a good addition. The presence of Lilo and Stitch in a Polynesian/Hawaiian setting would resonate with kids. I'm not saying this wasn't the case on Small World, but I think families will appreciate seeing additions from their favorite movies on the ride.

If you see a huge Stitch towering over the other Small World dolls, that is when you have a problem.
