An Austrian book made into an American movie. Celebrating his cultural folk tale heritage?

Funny.

Or did a Disney exec confuse him with... Rudolph?
Bambi just demonstrates another reason why the "Stories of the World" angle is not going to work, and probably not attempted at Hong Kong Disneyland.

I must say that the characters look horrible!

But, The Facade is soooooo beautiful, if they are going to take something to California from Hong Kong, let it be the facade lighting!!!

To change the topic,

How much have you done to get people to send letters???

Re: Save the Rainforest - Keep "it's a small world" a classic.

Rode the DRR today from Toontown to Tomorrowland and heard this as we were passing iasw:

Front Conductor: "And now our rear conductor will tell you all about Mary Blair, the original artist of It's a Small World and about her original intent for the ride."

Rear Conductor: "Blah, blah, blah, blah-de-blah, blah blah."

And yes, she did say "blah, blah, blah."

So is anyone actually going to keep a running count of how much attendence will or will not drop after this change to the DLR version, or are we going to relay on more "fuzzy math" from the Disney Theme Park PRs?

Re: Save the Rainforest - Keep "it's a small world" a classic.

I am on the fence. Honestly! When Disneyland opened the attraction the demographics were very different. I don't think DL had the international audience it does today. So, I can understand Walt's wishes with thinking outside the borders. However, does anyone remember the pride we all felt post 9/11? I would kinda like the idea.

However, I would like to respect the original ride. Yes, its in desperate need of a face lift, but, as the saying goes, if it ain't broke...

I don't want to see anything other than singing dolls in the thing. Adding other Disney characters is going too far. I think I mentioned it a while ago in another post. Sometimes these decisions seem like an afterthought. Instead of doing things the "right way", I feel they (Disney) takes the easy way our (I wanted to use another term, but I don't think my language would be very "Disney").

Disney has taken the phrase "reuse, reduce, recycle" too literally. Recycle the coke bottles, not the attractions.

If you want to represent Disney characters, build new attractions, don't throw them into an environment they were not originally intended to be.

And how are you going to get these attendance numbers? Stand outside the ride with a clicker?
Disney doesn't release these numbers, and wait time is not reliable.
(For an example, Pirates regularly has a 5 minute wait while Peter Pan has 45... Is Peter Pan more popular? Well, take into consideration that Pirates can easily take three times the amount of guests per hour as Peter Pan...)

It's not about numbers. It's about art.

And we all know art is not subjective at all.

So because art is subjective, we should pretend it doesn't exist and that "marketing research" and Disney press releases are the only truths?

Remi the superhero/artist beaver was so inspired by his visit to Disneyland that he sculpted a likeness of his head out of the petrified tree in Frontierland. Of course, immediately after this picture was taken, he used his powers to restore it to its natural state .

And therefore, any comic book is equal to the Sistine Chapel.

(I know you didn't say that, but if you didn't say that, what did you say?)

No. Because art is subjective, some MCers should stop pretending that their interpretation is the only truth.

Is this a case of "all viewpoints are valid" nonsense? Some interpretations are simply wrong, and they are therefore less valid than more accurate interpretations. This MCer is still waiting for a serious counterproposal to his oft-posted interpretation: the IASW has no "characters" because it stresses commonality over individuality. There is no possible way to add "characters" without diminishing its intended statement.

Yep, I actually have the testicular diameter to claim that this analysis is the truth about IASW.
