... so we default to the HBG's solution of 'I'm right until you prove me wrong'

Maybe some people honor their commitment to their employers?

Amazing how this site is all about protecting the CMs... unless it is counter to argument and you expect them to directly go against Disney Policy.

Well, the point is anybody can say they work for the Company. I'm not saying that anybody in particular is lying, but I also have no reason to believe that they are here being honest, either.

The fact of the matter is that mrfantasmic has his hands tied - he can't offer any hard facts without putting his job at risk. So does that mean that we should just believe whatever he says, even though all of us have witnessed numerous empty beehives cycling through the attraction while similar attractions in the park boast impressive wait times? I don't think so.

The ambiance is just...lovely. I can't help but smile sadly every time I wander through these sorts of discussions these days. So many sensible points on so many sides, disguised in so much bitterness...

Empty beehives just mean the ride is super efficient!

A classic ad hominem argument. I could say, "Gosh, I sorta think X, but that's just my opinion and I could be wrong," or I could say, "It's X, chumps, in your face and deal with it cuz it's the absolute truth." You still have to deal with X, which is affected neither by the charm nor the odiousness of the presenter.

If Pooh has lots of empty cars going through, it's performing below expectations. You don't need ride statistics or sworn testimony from CMs or anything else to reach that simple conclusion.

Re: Save the Rainforest - Keep "it's a small world" a classic.

The problem with photographing empty cars coming out is...what if they had riders going in! CUE TWILIGHT ZONE MUSIC!

But in all seriousness, I've never seen a huge wait for Pooh. When I went in 2003, no wait at all. On the other hand, I waited in line for Pooh at WDW for at least 20 minutes if not up to 40 just two years ago. Sure, the ride probably does have a higher per-hour capacity than Nemo or most of the Fantasyland rides. But in no way, shape, or form does that mean that the ride ever actually puts that many people through. If you compared daily totals in a calculatable way, I'm sure others rides would trump by a wide margin. Anyone with an AP that lives close want to take one for the team and go do some tallies?

Actually, it's another type of fallacy too. Arguing that something is true/false because it can't be proven false/true is a LARGE fallacy. Ad hom attacks the arguer instead of the argument.

Haha that's a tempting offer. But in all seriousness, I go on Pooh quite frequently when I hit the parks. why? Because the line is always short. And by short, I mean less than 5 minutes. All while Splash right next door boasts 45 minute or 60 minute waits. This is something I observe often and what that tells me is that folks who are exiting Splash Mountain are NOT even wasting their time on Pooh.

What this tells me is that Pooh is not a must-do to the common guest. And if the common guest isn't interested in a new attraction, that's a failure to me.

I have a coworker who went on Pooh for the very first time this past weekend. She said she made an effort to go on it because she never has before. I asked her what she thought and she said "I didn't remember. It was kind of boring, forgettable... a kid's ride."

I then asked her how she felt about say... Mr. Toad's. "Oh, I LOVE Mr. Toad's! it's so much fun!"

True story. This is someone who doesn't go to Disneyland as often as we do and has the exact same sentiments about Pooh as us regulars.

I work for a company and nobody protects me with their comments. They blame me for the fact they got in line for popcorn which takes 15 minutes to get to the front of when they only have 10 or less before their movie starts, and they just have to see those previews. Or my personal favorite, I get blamed for the fact that movie ticket prices have gone up just because I'm the soul worker for this company's location in this neighborhood that is working in the ticket booth. I can only imagine how many pissed off people I'll have to deal with during the first week of Sex in The City, seeing how all of our scheduled shows that week are sold out.

If they're cute, maybe you can pull some strings!

That's funny, I have a similar anecdote!

I went to Disneyland with a friend of mine who is not as much of a Disney nerd as I am. She said "Pooh is the greatest ride in ride history and Mr. Toad's is lame and dumb!!!"

True facts! This is a non-nerd, too, and she LOVES Pooh.

Those are just your own personal observations.

Here are some of mine:

Usually Pooh has a 3 to 5 minute wait when I visit just as you said above. Any wait at all is an indication that the demand for the ride is surpassing the supply. According to Al, Pooh's capacity is about 1200 people per hour. If people are waiting for the attraction, even just 5 minutes, and vehicles are going out empty as some claim, then that's simple laziness on the part of the Cast Members working the attraction (which I highly doubt is the case).

Is that to say that vehicles on pooh never go out empty? Of course not. Every ride has fluctuations in demand caused by parades, entertainment, meal periods and weather. Ever ride Pirates during Fantasmic? Splash Mountain on a rainy day? Snow White and Pinocchio after opening? It's easy to find attractions sending out empty ride vehicles.

I will say what I have said many times before: the fact that Pooh is still open should be indication enough that the attraction is drawing enough people and meeting expectations. If you want to say that Pooh is a failure then come back when the attraction is closed or tweaked or they add Disney characters to it.
