Have you ever wondered this? Why not Mr. & Mrs Mickey Mouse?

Have you ever wondered why after all this time, going on 80 years, Mickey Mouse is still a bachelor?

I think about it from time to time. I guess Mickey must be a confirmed bachelor, and Minnie must be O.K. with that.

For that matter Donald and Daisy are also still dating.

Just a few thoughts that cross my mind from time to time.

Allow me to explain from a guy's perspective.

Mickey has a fear of commitment. Why buy the mouse when he already has the cheese?

I guess I should have figured if I asked the question, I would get a humorous response.

They were actually married at one point. There wasn't a marriage cartoon released or anything but walt declared them married and there was some song and a picture released.

I think even though it goes unmentioned, a lot of times where you see them in king mickey / queen minnie roles you could imply they're married.

Miss Piggy is a liberated pig and doesn't need to take her husband's name. Down with patriarchy!

Re: Have you ever wondered this? Why not Mr. & Mrs Mickey Mouse?

My little brother seriously considered this when he was about three and we were going to Walt Disney World. He was so bent on asking Mickey when he was going to marry we all waited in that massive line at Mickey's House just to ensure seeing Mickey. He forgot to ask though as he was too excited.

A week ago we were at the Disneyland Resort. At Off the Page in DCA we saw a bunch of figurines depicting Mickey and Minnie in bride and groom attire. So either they were just pretending or somebody ran at the last minute.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that at one time, maybe in the 1970s, Disney was planning to have Mickey and Minnie marry. It was going to be a big marketting gimic with all sorts of crazy Disney hoopla. The project was scrapped because it was found that people just did not recognize or want to see them as married.

I see Mickey and Minnie like Barbie and Ken. They have been married before (Barbie and Ken have had wedding outfits for years. ) but they are still billed as Boyfriend/Girlfriend. I think it is for political reasons. Mickey doesn't want Minnie to get the empire, and the same goes for Barbie.
