I was just curious if anyone on MiceChat has done an internship at WDI in Glendale. I would imagine it is extremely difficult to get involved in. I was just curious to hear some stories from any future imagineers.
There are internships, and those are a great way to learn and get your foot in the door. quite a few people start out their careers at Disney as interns.
also, I do know Disney likes to promote from within a lot. or so I have been told by those work high up in the Disney chain.
no matter what, don't give up. If you really want it, it can be done. the key: get as much info everything you can, and make as many contacts as you can with anyone in the company, or those who have worked for the company.
Keep in mind- imagineers are a dying breed. They layoff more than they hire at this point. The college program is probably your best bet to get in. I know lots of people who have tried to get hired and its impossible unless you know someone on the inside. Its a great dream to have, but make sure you have a back up plan.

Nothing is impossible. But like I said, your contacts are key, and you should be making some when doing an internship.
not so much a dying breed, but in that the whole division needs someone to go in and clean house, in a good way. it has a lot of problems.
but those that do get laid off or let go, or usually brought in only for certain periods of time and certain projects. others it can be for various reasons. oh, and that executives don't like to take the blame for when something fails, so guess who usually gets the blame, and sometimes the axe.
i say, establish yourself as one who can stay on budget, get the job done, work well with those high up, even if you don't like them, and overall establish yourself as someone that they cannot afford to lose.
