I would love a golf course, but there's no room for a full 18 hole, not even a 9 hole; maybe a par 3 course, and if you want to go back in history how about a put-put course! No but seriously, the fact of adding a water park is just to further turn DLR into an actual resort! I mean WDW is doing pretty well, and they've got 2 water parks (i'm not daying those are the major parks but still they attract visitors) and yes its in florida where its hot, but it can get hot in California.

I think DLR would be great if it became a little more like its florida counterpart, and although DLR has a significantly less amount of land to work with, it can still become a multy-day resort.

Alex, you and I are in total agreement. I have a deep sentimental attachment to the Disneyland Hotel, even moreso than the park I think, and I'm not usually like that. I still haven't completely forgiven Disney for tearing out the whole front of the hotel to build Downtown Disney. The grounds, the Olympic pool, the shops, the Monorail Bar. <sigh>

I'd be in favor of the DLH being renovated and adding more rooms--perhaps an additional tower--although the logistics could be tricky. It'll be a sad day if and when they ever tear it down.

so... my idea was that if the DLH was imploded, a new 4 star hotel also called the DLH, would take it's place, It would be themed of the 5 original lands of Disneyland-Main Street, Tomorrowland,Fantasyland,Frontierland, and Adventureland. The entrance would be themed to main streen with lots of victorian architecture and it would look very similar to the hotel under construction at TDL

then each other wing of the hotel would be a different land from Disneyland

The Tommorowland wind would feature rooms with ultra modern architecture and neat lighting touches.

The Frontierland wing would have the lush architecture you'd expect to find in The Golden Horseshoe. There could also be a couple rooms themed to NOS(possibly suites)

The Adventureland wing's style would probaly remind you of the animal kingdom lodge(though I don't know if the actual animals thing would work here)

The Fantasyland Wing would (on the outside) be like a castle, each room could have specific animated feature themes and such, and the overall style of this wing would be europian fairytale-ish

so...that's it, I can see a few problems in the idea with how most themed hotels have just one theme and stick with it. This one (im afraid) might be a little bit too much, but... I still think It would be pretty cool, like when you're booking a room there and they ask you what land you want..just that idea alone sounds sooo awsome to me, but you can form your own opinion about it

I don't see a day..ever...where Disneyland won't have a Disneyland Hotel. It may be under construction, or imploded, or whatever people suggest, but I can't imagine the powers that be would change the name, or even move it from it's current location.

I'd definitely buy into the idea of four or five towers, though I'd rather see them themed after WDW, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Paris, and of course, DLR.

What they're planning for DCA is a huge disruption, and not really comparable to any of the other refurbishments, or remodeling that's been done in other parks. Just the idea of redoing the DCA main entrance...that alone is going to cause a lot of chaos, and even the Disneyland Main Gate is going to be affected by that, I imagine.
I am not seeing this "huge disruption" at all. To my knowledge, the plan is to take certain sections of DCA "off line" while the section is rennovated and then returned when its done and they move on to the next section. How will that constitute a "huge" disruption? How will say Hollywood section being down for refurb affect the DL gate? The only part that will be somewhat disruptive is when they work on the main entrance area but that is one of the shorter parts of the project since it will be mostly facade work. I don't see it being a big deal nor should it affect the DL gate or DTD.

Again, it just makes no business sense to leave DCA as it is, floundering with only the minor changes (which have been done and failed) shoring it up while you destroy one of your hotels and build a 3rd gate and pray it does better than the 2nd. Even IF the 3rd gate did great you'd still have that "elephant" at the party that no one talks about...the 2nd gate failing.

OMG think this is the absolute best idea yet for a new DLH. I would love to have them ask "which land" I would like to stay in. There are endless ideas to go along with this idea; adventureland could have rooms related to the Indiana Jones ride or even Tarzans tree house and who wouldn't want to sleep in a Pirates Lair! Well thought Pianoman; this idea of yours is worth serious consideration by the "powers that be".

Re: Third Gate: If the Disneyland Hotel is imploded....

The Pianoman "5 themed 'Land' towers" is an interesting way to handle it. You could even have varying amenities in the different "lands" - Fr'instance the Adventureland tower would have more 2-room suites with a King for the parents, and Bunk Beds for the kids.

To those of you moaning about "losing the Original Disneyland Hotel", that ship sailed a long time ago.

The oldest parts left vanished when they levelled the original Lobby Building with the Arcade Shops and the perforated beams and the Monorail Cafe. And the old 2-story Garden Suites motel sections. The DLH was added onto, and old buildings levelled and rebuilt several times before the Tower Buildings went up. And even the towers went up in several stages.

I say drop the towers and go big.
