I felt like Rockin' Space Mountain last year was bright enough to pretty much consider it as running with the lights on. And I hated Rockin' Space with every last fiber of my being for that very reason.

Great, now I'm gonna have nightmares when I go to sleep. Thanks a lot, Future!

Sort of, you couldn't really tell details but you could see more than usual.

Why? I actually thought it was more roomy than what I was expecting.

I didn't particulary like it either. My reason was that because you could judge speed and turns which made it feel much slower. That's part of how Space works is by fooling your senses.

as part of a cast event back in 1999 we got to go on space with all lights on. then they had all lights off. it is such a diffrence. it makes me never want to put my hands up again. with all lights off it seemed like it went even faster.

    Oh, aashee.

I don't think I'd like it with lights on. I know my mother wouldn't either, the only reason she rides it is because she can't see where she's going. It does seem SORT OF neat but I doubt I'd ride it again if I saw it with lights on. I'M A SCAREDY CAT.

I already yell for help from Luke Skywalker when I'm riding it. What Luke has to do with Space Mountain I have no idea. I'm an odd ball.

I used to work space (maintenance). Having ridden all of it's formats, I still think no lights, no show is the best.

Re: Space Mountain - Lights On

I think it was the moment when the lights came on that I realized that I wanted them back off.

It's fun notion to see the reality behind the magic, but I realized that seeing it this way made something so cool seem quite unimpressive.

I guess it was neat to have been stuck on it with the lights on and get 'the push'. We were lucky enough in that they fixed it by the time we made it to the bottom so they sent us through again (lights off).

Still, while I have an insatiable desire to see all of the attractions with the lights on, I also believe that it takes some of the magic away from it when you've seen the attractions in this state. So I'm really not praying for that to happen even though part of me wishes it would.

Much like a magic trick, it's less fun to see when you know how it's done.

For some people seeing a magic trick ruins the "magic." For others, I think it makes them appreciate how the magic is created.

When the matterhorn went 101 on a recent trip, I found the walkthrough of the steel structure to be amazing. Here is a giant steel structure you never see. By creating these, what looks like concrete, tunnels through the mountain they transform you into an icy ride down the slopes of the matterhorn.

Space Mountain with the lights on-- there is just this normal steel structure roller coaster. But the magic comes from placing a ride inside and turning out the lights.

Kinda cool to see how the magic is created with the throw of a light switch!
Check out My Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 rides... I'm always working on another one... I hope they make you want to go to Disneyland.

Re: Space Mountain - Lights On

Hmm I sort of got to experience a SM 101 but only while in the Space Station part of the queue. If only I had gotten in line only maybe... 10-15 minutes earlier?...

In the end though, the work lights were pretty cool, albeit only in Spacestation77.

Cool video spaceventure, I remember that announcement.
