Placement can be determined by the empty parking lot on the left of the image. The furthest west end of the parking lot in google maps is at the furthest west edge of the dirt tract (back end of the current hotels fronting Harbor).

So either the concept art is incorrect, or misleading, or a lot of these hotels are going to be demolished. From other posts It seemed that future additions (hotels) would be going in where the parking lot is and on the opposite side of Clementine from the Garden Walk.

i explained where the area and expansion would be in an earlier post the present Gardenwalk plan is the lot surrounded by katella (south), clementine (east), disney way (north), and the hotels which front harbor (west).
the expansion, or the area in the last concept art that is closest to the viewer is in the existing hotel lot (harbor - west, disney way - north, and hotel -south) this would be demolished if the expansion is approved.

here's the concept art with my new street labels:
1. monorail
2. hotels
3. expansion,
4. third park
clementine - back
katella - back right
disney way - left
harbor - front right
the red dashed area is the "expansion" area, this is an area that is not yet officially going to be built on for Gardenwalk. and yes the view if not technically from the entrance to DCA/disneyland its, i'd say from around the hyperion theater/ TOT

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

It all makes sense now. I did not know about the potential expansion area. Thanks for the graphic.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

sure no problem, it is kind of confusing since, the Gardenwalk is being built, and yet they are already planning a potential expansion. if i was them, i would just get the land for the expansion and build the Gardenwalk with the expansion from the beginning. it would be kinda like Disney building DCA when in mind they were planning the expansion for it. kinda wierd.

As for the third gate, It is already in bluesky and could be as soon as 2016 when we see it.

Garden walk and somekind of overhead transportation will play a vital piece in the project to get people from the two first gates to the third gate
A lot of people want the monorail including the Mayor of Anaheim. However everyone bases the plan on Disney paying for a huge percentage of it and Disney continually says no way no how not even a small portion of it.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

well, i have been researching anaheim transportation plans, and there planning to build a place called ARTIC (anaheim regional transportation intermodel center) to be based between the honda center and angel stadium. its a place with multiple forms of transportation (bus, metrolink, ..., and possible rail systems) and recreation. It would be pretty much like an airport without the airplanes or runways. Just terminals for other forms of transportation. if anaheim is willing to build this, maybe they would build a sort of monorail (not owned by disney) to the resort district. and if so maybe it can have a stop where you can transfer onto an extended disneyland monorail system.

these are just my thoughts, but the ARTIC project is an actual plan that is being considered by anaheim

I LOVE Santana Row and hang out there as much as possible. Pluto's, The Counter, InSpa...sigh...

Sorry...back to topic.

I am heading down in like 19 days and plan on going to AGW and seeing what it looks like...maybe try Bubba Gump's.

I'm going to have to disagree here and say I think Disney built DCA fully aware that they would expand it at a later date: TOT and then the whole Poomba parking lot. Even GCH was probably built knowing they'd expand later. You don't just put a big green lawn in such prime real estate for the fun of it.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

well that's what i'm confused about, Mojave, if i was them i would just build out the hotel in that lawn and build out the park in the parking lot. to me those areas just look like they left them there for no reason, if you have a plan for the future why not just try to implement it now (if it's ready of course). I mean you might say well Disneyland added Critter Country, Tootown, and New orleans square later, but these areas were previously occupied by either on stage or off stage areas. they weren't just empty pieces of land waiting to be built upon. unless i'm not getting something, i don't really see why DCA and the hotel weren't just built in these areas to begin with.

now back to the gardenwalk, yah now i do see why they waited to build an expansion. that land has existing hotels on it that aren't evened own by them yet. but anyways, i rather not argue about this, and i now that plans and developments like Disney are always changing

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

I wasn't trying to be argumentative. Sorry if my post came off that way.

I just think it comes down to 1) money, 2) wait and see if the initial investment is successful, 3) the need to be able to plus something every few years.

With Garden Walk, I'm guessing they needed to build phase 1 first, then use its success to get more money for phase 2. Plus you're right, they don't even own that land. I wonder if Anaheim and the Resort District have any kind of eminent domain where they can force the hotels to sell for the greater good of the area.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

i hope they have some eminent domain. because the hotel on the southeastern corner of DCA is kinda bugging me. It's like there's going to be this big theme park behind you, but you can keep the corner. Maybe though i doubt this, when they build a third park, disney will eventually obtain some of the hotel land on the northwestern corner of the strawberry fields? probably not though because of its size, but then again?

Anaheim Garden Walk Gala event now open to the Public - Chicago to play

I just read on the Anaheim Visitors Guide that the AGW VIP Gala Event is now open to the public for a price. I guess for a really nice dinner and concert with Chicago its worth it. Plus this is a charity event so part of the cash goes to a good cause.

Here is the linky: http://www.anaheimvisitorsguide.com/...nd_events.html

Yeah, there's nothing that annoys me more than that little bit of land on the old parking lot that Disney doesn't own. Looks like 2 hotels and a mini strip mall. I'm sure they've been offered quite a bit of money, but are holding out for more. Still they're legit businesses and I believe they have a right to stay - I don't know, I'm on the fence on this one.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

yah, they do have a right to stay, and you're probably right, they're probably waiting until disney offers them more money

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk

I would love if the additional Disney owned/run hotels plan comes through! The current ones are often booked up when we plan our last minute trips and I love staying with Disney. Thats one problem with keeping up to date with these rumors - it gets you psyched way too far in advance!

Anaheim Garden Walk slide show

This page has a link to some really nice pics of the Garden Walk. It looks like these were taken recently as all the main restaurants look like there open.
