    Do you like getting wet?

In response to the thread about what techincal difficulties held up Splash Mountain's opening, I decided to make this poll. I don't mind getting a little wet, but I hate getting soaked.
Splash should get people as minimally wet as possible. The point of Splash Mountain is the story, music, audio-animatronics, scenery, and drops. The flume is just a mode of transportation such as with IASW and POTC. If people want to get really wet they should go to a water park.

Or conversely if they do not want to get wet they should avoid a ride titles SPLASH.

Haha, excellent point. I always make sure to have SM be the last stop before returning to the hotel, unless the line is unusually short. I don't mind getting soaked, but I don't want to be walking around damp for hours.

Then they would be crazy to pass up a great audio animatronic adventure.

Re: Do you like getting wet?

I think Splash Mountain is right about right for the masses. There are always those who want more or less, but I think the majority of people enjoy Splash as is. If it was a problem there would be complaints and a change.

My wife and I went to Lagoon a few years ago, here in Utah, and they have a raft ride that actually takes you under a waterfall. You're basically going to get wet. No seat-belts either on this one. Two girls got in with us. Teenagers. They had obviously spent several hours getting ready to go to the park so they could pick up boys as they were elegantly coiffed, and from their conversation. At every single splash they both STOOD up to avoid getting any water on them. At the waterfall, the one was actually leaning OUT of the raft so she wouldn't get wet. Her lower half did and she was ticked off.

All we could think was, "you knew that this ride got you wet, either from the title or watching people come off it. If you didn't want to get wet, why did you ride this?"

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

This thread, I fear, is destined for the Litter Box, or irretrievable derailment, or both. Love the title, though!

Not a big fan of getting soaked on rides, by the way!

Life is full of choices that are less than ideal. Avoiding being wet all day is easy if you plan ahead. You could go the poncho route, or wear appropriate quick drying clothes and bring an extra pair of socks. A backpacking towel also does wonders.

Do you even ride splash? And if so is it only as a planning trip for its ultimate destruction?

I don't like getting soaked. Yeah, it's refreshing when it's really warm but it's such a hassle. It can make my sunscreen run or come off, I have to make sure my wallet, camera, etc. are protected, socks don't dry well when you're wearing shoes, etc.

Worst incident was Atlantis at SeaWorld Orlando, a wave of water literally filled our ride vehicle, drenching us. Not fun.

I've never found the level of wetness on Splash Mountain to be a problem, and it is not just a mode of transportation. It specifically includes a drop which of course is going to make you a little wet. Yes, people who don't like thrills or water will miss a great attraction, but getting wet is absolutely part of the ride.

A little "splash" is fine, if the weather is warm. I have never gotten soaked on Splash Mountain. Now GRR - soaked. We only do that one if it is a million degrees outside, and we are staying at the GCH so we can change at least our shoes.

Jurassic Park ride at USH - drenched everything I was wearing, and it was not a hot day. Bad choice on our part.
