Green Eggs & Ham (Mary Poppin's Penguins?)

    Hey micearonis,

Weird question for everybody. So I was in Disneyland last month and right outside Sleeping Beauty's Castle, by the wishing well, the three penguins from Mary Poppins were signing autographs for some little girls...and I got curious, since I certainly didn't know if the Penguins had names or what they were.

So I peaked over their shoulders while they were autographing, and it turns out they were signing them, respectively, Green, Eggs & Ham. Which struck me as slightly crazy. Is that officially what they're known as?

    Does anybody know?

Wow! I thought the penguins didn't have names! I certainly don't think their names were "Green, Eggs, & Ham" in the movie!

Penguin walks into a bar, and asks the bartender, "Hey, has my father been in here?" "I don't know," says the bartender, "what does he look like?"
"My mental facilities are twice what yours are, pea brain!"

A couple of years ago they signed my sons autograph book with other names but I can't remember what they were right off hand. They may have signed as Larry, Mo, and Curly but I would have to find his autograph book to make sure.

Lol, wow that is great! I guess each penguin would be able to make his/her mark with the signature they choose. It's clever and pretty funny. Now I want to go get a penguin autograph! However, even though I am still quite young at heart, I haven't done the autograph thing in years. For this...I really just might.

Thanks for sharing because I never knew the penguins did that and I guess I was curious as to what they would sign their names as.

I'm thinking this is probably more close to the truth than anything else. I don't think they have "official" names carved in granite. They either determine amongst themselves before they go out what names they are going to use, or play it by ear.

It would be great to have a CM who plays a penguin to chime in on this one!

I remember one penguin I met back in 1985 (I just looked at the back of the pics... for I don't know how many years, I thought we went in 1986! DOY!) signed his autograph as "Arthur".

Mary Poppins refered to one as Bernard once, and Bert commented that he should have been named "Bertnard" since Bert was a great name.
