I think, TJ, the 'e-ticket' MAY just get you into the Park in order to have your photo taken for the actual pass (which requires a photo and coding).

Exactly. Or if you buy an online ticket for a certain event, like Mickey's Halloween Treat, what you print out has a bar code on it. At the gate they scan the bar code on the printed out paper and the machine spits out a regular ticket that they hand you and they keep the printed copy.
Yeah, it's just like buying a park-hopper online. You show up with the flimsy paper... they scan the barcode and print you a regular park ticket.
