Robert Olszewski miniatures: Good Value or Waste of Money?

Im sure weve all seen the miniatures of Disneyland being released one building at a time by renowned miniaturist Robert Olszewski. My question is, do you think they are a good value or just a waste of money?
Are any of you collecting them?
I think theyre cool! But how practical are they? I mean when they are all released where would you put all of them? Who has a room big enough to house a scale model Disneyland? And if you cant display them what good would it be to have them?
Despite my more responsible reasonable calculations I cant help but want to buy them. Do you think its a good idea?

for fun, heres some pictures of the mini main st as its set up in the Disney Gallery...

This ones just for fun. It was taken from the Sun Wheel on Fri. Aug 12th

Very cool, but not worth spending money on. Who are the people smiling in the background?

I own a few of these pieces. They are great. So far I have the tea cups, train station, castle and opera house. I am thinking of adding city hall and then that might be it for a while. The WDW castle looks nice and will most likely go on my wish list. There is no way I can do all of Main Street (or all of DL as is rumored) because I don't have the room for all that.

I can't help myself, I must have them - only I haven't had the money to buy a single one of them yet

I figure on eventually building either a dining or coffee table, about 4-6" deep with a glass top, to hold them. Course, I have to get the money to start buying them first, don't I?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

It's art. The value is in the eye of the owner, and what it can fetch on the open market. Unless one is purchasing for investment purposes, you cannot do a cost-benefit analysis on these.

I purchased Sleeping Beauty Castle for my wife for our anniversary. Her reaction and sunsequent happiness was worth every penny!

On the other hand, it is too small to live in, so on that basis it was a poor investment.
I need to get a life...

I just bought the Tea Cups. Interesting note- about each of these is they have a cute turn-on switch hidden in each of the dioramas. I could n't find the switch and it came with no instructions. So I called Disneyland DelivEARS, and they had ten calls that day on how it turns on. The Switch is the Fire Hydrant. It lights up each section of the Tea cups, the control house, and the light posts by the "ALICE" sign. Very cool. Yeah, it seems a bit pricey but The detail is worth the price paid, alot of it.

I am not a sculpture/minature kind of guy but I just love this series.

Although they are on the high side, the quality is excellent and it is fun slowly building Main Street. I don't know where I will put the whole thing when the base is released later but I can hardly wait.

These are definitely not for everone. I am glad they put out the display in the Gallery so others can also enjoy them.

I love the series. I have not bought any yet because I have to place to put them. I hope they keep a setup somewhere inside Disneyland. then whenever I want to see a model of the park I can just go there and drool over it.

My wife and I have all of these and we love them. The amount of detail is amazing and is a good reason why the price is at the level it is at. Still though, my tax bracket prevents me from calling it a "good value". We plan on following this collection through to the end and have a couple of locations in our house tagged for our future mini Main-Street or eventual Disneyland if they get that far. All in all though, they are very nice and if you can, go for it.

I am normally not into the miniatures or other types of figurines but I have to admit that I love these. Just the thought of having an entire park inside of my house makes me smile. The detail is amazing and when you light the buildings up and turn of the lights it feels like you are floating over the park. I anxiously await each release date and look forward to having at least one section of the park complete. I do understand that not everyone has the room for such a large collection. We have a unique room devoted to Disneyland items (mostly items that came directly from attractions) and this will be a great centerpiece.

If I had the money, I would but these so fast and pack them away until I had my Haunted Mansion house and I'd have a whole room set up for the miniatures.

These things look amazing!! If one has the means to obtain them, go for it. The memories and emotions that the very idea of Disneyland evoke are truly priceless, thats why we would still buy season passes even if they cost $1,000. Having these models in your home would totally be worth the money spent. Whether its becuase of a fond memory or just admiring the craftsmanship, theres no way anyone could look at these and NOT smile.
