Last weekend was a big weekend for me. Tigerlily and I were headed to SoCal to deliver the Disneyland Submarine Voyage props I sold on ebay, and to pick up a realy cool piece of Disneyana that I bought with the proceeds from my sub props and my Disneyana Yard Sale. Tigerlily and I got waylayed along the way by stopping in Anaheim for the night and attending the Taste wine and food event held at Disneys California Adventure.
We headed to DCA around 5:30 pm Saturday evening.
After waiting in line we got our credentials, a lanyard and a wine glass, and we headed in.
There was a really cool ice sculpture that had a secondary purpose... cooling the Appletini's and Manhattans as they flowed thru a tube in the sculpture!
Martini glasses ready to go.
The object of our affection...
While waiting in line we saw Elly and Dustin, so they joined up with us...
Along with our old friend JudiMouse... the ex-gogo dancer!
Shortly thereafter another MiceChat couple joined our motley crew, MCow1 and Mary Read.
We all went inside and grabbed a standup 8-top table as fast as we could, and we guarded it with our lives. Soon enough we discovered that if we didn't procure appetizers and drinks in shifts, the table would be lost to all. So we worked it out by basically throwing our bodies across the table when we were outnumbered by folks who didn't realize that we were part of a large group. Hey, it worked!
The live music was by jazz guitarist Paul Brown and it was great!
We were all hungry, so for most of us, the food was the initial draw and there was plenty of great things to try. Here Tigerlily and I enjoy the "tomato and artichoke bisque" from the Blue Bayou.
The "Meyer Lemon Lobster Sliders" were divine. I think I had 3.
Here's a "Spicy Boiled Gulf Shrimp in Creole Gazpacho" cocktail. Mmmmmmmm
While tasting food, we also were tasting wine... lots of wine, and Manhattans and Appletinis!
For brevity's sake, all the toasts have been moved to the "Get Toasted This Weekend" thread.
TikiRoomLiz and her sister joined us.
We made new friends with Randy...
... and his lovely wife Donna
JudiMouse likes the Appletinis...

Then, after we were all well-oiled socially, who should show next to our table but Disneyland Resort President Ed Grier. Next thing I know, he's at our table, and I'm slobberin' something about what a great event it was.
So we had to take a group picture... 'cuz this guy's hard to catch up with!
Next thing you know, here's Gary (someone help me out here)the producer of the Taste event.
He was with his wife. She was a crackup!
Then, on top of all that, who shows up but Disneyland Resort Master Sommelier and General Manager of the Napa Rose, Michael Jordan.
Michael and MCow1 are friends now that MCow1 has acheived (thru hard work and much study) the title of "Sommelier".
Dustin says it all at the end of Taste.
After Taste, we walked over to Disneyland with MCow1 and Mary Read. We went on Pirates first, then headed to the Haunted Mansion, where we accosted the CM about getting some HM "Death Certificates. She told us to try back after the ride. We assumed we were getting blown off, so we went in and violated the "no flash" rule. What the hell, we were feelin' toasty.
Afterwards, we called the CM's bluff by showing back up on the HM front porch. Her lead was there and quickly disappeared and re-appeared with the new object of our desire... Haunted Mansion Survivor Certificates. Cooooool!
More to come...
