At WDW, I presume. Now, am I right in understanding that either the fountain or the hearse are vanishing in this repaving?

No, at DL in California. The HM queue isn't being repaved.

Thank goodness! The queue paving is wonderful. Much better than the old slurry. Hopefully, the replaced paving outside the grounds will be equally superior.

Hi there! I'm mostly a lurker (really I should post more often, but reading is just as fun), but I have a question now since everyone's scrounging for topics...

Is there anything interesting between the unload area and the load area? Every time I am in the unload area, I think that I should just hop back on and ride through, but alas, I'm too chicken. (Darn that mirror and the attentive CM's!) Anyway, I'm sure someone has been in a wheelchair and had to ride all the way through... so what's back there??? Anything good? Pitch black?

There's a lit section and a curtain, behind which is the tower with all the security cameras. It's a short ride back as the track loops around, but that's about it.
If you can, go with someone who has a wheelchair. Trust me. The coolness of it is unbelievable--and I'm not talking about seeing the whole track. The elevator ride back up is just made of sheer awesome. I almost cried when I saw it....I've been told the thing to do is lay down in the middle of the floor as it goes back up. Which I will do the next time one of my friends has a foot injury requiring a wheelchair

Welcome Back Sarah, I remember the avatar. BHP is correct, go with someone in a wheelchair. You'll also get to enjoy the shrinking room!

Not just that, but you can torment the CMs that are working as you go back. It's also interesting because the hill down into the loading area is really ridiculously steep and you feel like you're going to fall out of the boombuggy. It's pretty cool. That and the shrinking room make renting a wheelchair almost worth it.

they will ask if you can walk the distance up the stairs or if you need a direct transfer....say you need the direct transfer....but if you go with someone who actually is injured like I did (to chicken to lie) just tell them the truth...it was fun and it ads a new experience to the ride...the steep downhill and shrinking room are an added thrill

Exactly. Riding a stretching room backwards is shrinking.

Of course this is only possible in Disneyland.

Or at Phantom Manor in DLP, I'd assume, since that attraction uses the elevator-takes-you-down-beneath-the-berm-and-into-the-backstage-show-building technique, too.
