Can't' wait - I'm gonna enjoy making up unpronounceable names for Roz to stumble over (much like I do with ET), though I've yet to find one that crashed the system.

I am getting excited about this attraction.
I really enjoyed the film, and I think it can be a winner. I had also had visions of doors flying by, but I figured that was too ambitious. Anyway, I am looking forward to it.

it is cheaper and can handle more capacity being the way it is now than if it was like petar pan with vehicles like doors flying... and cheaper to spend more money in other spots... Though It would rock to be flying...

I'm pretty sure the technology they are using here is closer to what we see over at Turtle Talk. AI has come a long way since ET......ASIMO shows us this. I'm just not sure it will be personalized such that Roz says your name...a lot of less mature guests would give inappropriate names and it would be best to avoid that altogether. It could be more along the lines of "I like your blue hat" or "Yankees fan, are you?" type thing.

Buzz is like that too, and is one of the most impressive Audio-Animatronics figures I've ever seen.

Re: How long has this been here?

There was a thread a while back about possible interactive AAs for the new monsters inc. If they're doing it, great. It's got to be better than ET :P That'd be downright pathetic if they couldn't think up anything new and better than ET.

And another thing... Everyone made fun of that January date for california screamin reopening because there's no way they'd open up a ride in January and miss the holiday peak season like that. Why is monster's inc opening in january?

Monsters Inc needs a slow opening.. if it opened in December it might not be ready for the full force.. and January is also training... who knows if it will open in Dec for soft openings and get tons of APers in the park...

Re: How long has this been here?

I would bet it will soft open by Christmas. The reason it's stupid for Screamin' is because you don't tend to have soft openings for rides after they crash, you just open them. No one is going to ride something that "may shut down at any time" after it crashed.

Does this mean that Bob Peterson, the guy who is both a Pixar story supervisor and voice of Roz, has to permanently sit behind-the-scenes in DCA come January?

because the parks won't need attendance pushes in December due to the holiday season, January is another story....another reason to have to visit the DLR.
