    Star Tours 2, Confirmed?

In a recent Indiana Jones article about CGI, Star Tours 2 is confirmed, sort of.

These are the last two sentences of the article,

"Next up for Landis is another nostalgia-oriented project--a redo of the Star Tours ride at Disneyland. The big question...will Captain EO make a comeback?"

    Here is the article:

Good, it needs it. We've been not going to Endor for more than a decade, now.

Well, this seems to be a pretty solid statement. Still, I will wait for "New Destinations Arriving Soon" signs to appear at the queue entrance. I hope this really is true though.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

A well-deserved update has been rumored for years, mainly in the post SaveDisney.com era, when Iger took over and proved to be more nicey-nicey with creative partners than his predecessor. So I'll standby like mycroft16 until we get an official announcement from Disney & Lucasfilm. But when that announcement happens, I will be just as ENTHUSIASTIC as the rest of us Disney geeks!

I hope Star Tours does get that refurb... it would be great to have some new destinations... maybe let the guests pick from a list and the destination with the most votes wins? And maybe a slightly smoother experience. I'm looking forward to the official announcement too!!

It could be good if it was redone with a different pop star.

I'm so done with Rex. I would love to see an animatronic Han Solo and Chewbacca flying the starspeeder.

Even though I have been wanting new destinations, I think I have changed my mind. I mean come on, you 'fly' in the Death Star Trench, what is more epic than that?

Since there are four simulators, I think there should be one left with the original, and the other three can go to new destinations.
This is a rare opportunity Disney has to make both the traditionalists and the modernists happy. There are not many other attractions where this can be done. In fact, the only other attraction I can think of off the top of my head is Soarin'. With most attractions it can be changed or left the same.
This is an investment, and what better way to maximize an investment than to make more people happy.

Please remember that this is only my personal opinion!

Me too, I hope they don't completely remove everything from the current (or the now "old" version) - Star Tours was my favorite ride when I was little.
