Other DLRR Ward Kimball Locomotive Model

What I am about to show you is the most detailed and accurate model of anything I have ever made. For the last 10 months I have been researching and building my own 1:20.3 scale (G scale) model of the Disneyland Railroad locomotive #5, the Ward Kimball. It is built competently from scratch, every bit and piece was made by hand from either sheet styrene, strip styrene, or turned on a dremel out of foam. It doesn’t move, that wasn’t my goal though, I just wanted to make a nice detailed display model and I didn’t want to fuss on making it move. Besides if it did move, there wouldn’t be a layout for it to run on!

So here it is, what may be the finest model of the Ward Kimball locomotive ever built!

There are over 8 light bulbs on the engine, that light up the head light, class lights, firebox, cab lights, and cab signals.

Inside the cab, which is accurate down to the valves.

Wow Nautilus very very good job. In the pictures where you can not see the blades of grass it looks real! Very well done. It looks like you put A LOT of work into this model. Again, great job.

A work of art! As a model railroader myself, you made me tear up. I've been wanted to scratchbuild the DLRR myself, either in HOn3 or G. Steve's books are a great resource, as are field trips to the park.

did you build the guys in there to or are those just your old G I Joes?

either way, its pretty dope. love love the lighting. try to simulate some smoking coming out the top and take a photo. that would really knock it out of the park.... for a second time that is.

Those guys, however, I did not make, those are figures that Woodland Scenics (A model railroad scenery company) makes.
