I'm with the idea that Disneyland should have a Star Wars weekend.

Aw, come on, Swabbie. Most people in general say they like Star Wars. I am a direct product of Star Wars fans, so my parents can't be life-long virgins, can they?

Star Wars fans are called Star Wars fans. Trekkies love Star Trek. If you love sci-fi in general, the term is usually sci-fi nerd. Just because you like Star Wars does not mean you enjoy all types of science fiction (I think most are pretty weird and lame - the only sci-fi show I ever watched was Farscape).

I love Star Wars, too, and I'd love to see Star Wars Weekends come to Disneyland! I think it could definitely be done, especially with all the underutilized space in Tomorrowland...Disney just needs to jump in on it. And maybe it would bring some more life into the place.

space mountains exterior cant be used becuase the center of it is HISTAs roof and we cant have alot of weight on it thats why we tend to keep people off the center henever possible
I say put it in big thunder ranch itll help frontierland with some themeing and make frontierland more popular with all the star wars fans! (awaits foc'l to destroy me in my sleep )

I like the idea except using the outside queue of Space Mountain, only because I have heard the reason they don't have the queue in that area in the first place is because the roof is too weak -- it doesn't have any columns holding it up because it is the roof of the theatre. So having Star Wars events up there might be unsafe. Other than that I think it's a good idea, even in the ranch area -- plant a bunch of ferns, then it would look a little bit like Endor.

Re: Star Wars Weekends at Disneyland. How and When??

There could never be a full on Star Wars weekend in DL but, I can see DCA hosting an event in the not to distant future.

Disneyland is just to busy to begin with and Tomorrowland is way to small an area to hold such a "geekfest", the gates would be closed by 9:30am .

There just isn't enough room and besides can you imagine the amount of "this end of the world" posts we would have to deal with?

DCA on the other hand can handle a park wide event like the one at the Studios and can handle the masses because of it's lower attendance.

The best way to make it a Resort wide event is have the first weekend coincide with the opening of Star Tours 2 and also have a Mickey and friends Meet and Greet after the Jedi school thing.

Now do I want one on our coast? I say, why not? As long as they do it right and not on the cheap, I think it could be a lot of fun. Maybe the resort could even get a walk around Stitch as the Emporer, that would be enough to get me there.

Beside, There really is no good reason not to.

Re: Star Wars Weekends at Disneyland. How and When??

    A couple of ideas:

    1. How about the large area over the Starcade area for a giant meet and greet (with photo ops)?

    2. Big Thunder Ranch would make a nice Ewok village with food service available (BBQ'd Wampa anyone?)

    3. Running all 6 films in sequence could be done at Golden Dreams.

    4. Unlikely, but fantastic would be a Star Wars film for Soarin'

    5. Debut the new Star Tours film at the Inaugural Weekend

    6. The "Who wants to be a Millionaire" stage would work nicely as a lecture hall for the writers, actors and maybe a director or two to hold court.

All that said, with the economy the way it is, I'm not sure Disney is ready to commit any new resources to the parks beyond the DCA extreme makeover, maybe George Lucas could talk them into something (considering the high promotion value and merchandising potential)

Thanks for the response! Interesting that you're almost suggesting a RESORT-WIDE star wars weekends. That's actually a great idea! Spread it all out!

Actually, given the state of things, this might be the best option for revenue rather than spending money on building a new attraction. It's just something fun that would draw in the crowds without investing too heavily. Very similar to the low costs of the Indiana Jones Summer of Hidden Mysteries.

Star Wars and Frontierland shound never cross paths.

Doubt Disney would want to pay royalties on showing these films. Secondly I doubt Lucas would allow that.

WOn't ever happen. Not a bad idea to improve Star Tours though.

    5. Debut the new Star Tours film at the Inaugural Weekend
    OK with me.

Not a good fit at DCA. I think Star Wars at Dland and DCA would be overkill
