I'm a Star Wars nerd. I'm a Disney nerd. And when I saw pictures of Florida's Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios, I was just insanely jealous. Not only do they have a walk-around Jedi Mickey and other Star Wars characters, but now they have Minnie, Goofy, and Donald in the get-up as well!
Minnie Mouse is Princess Leia (a new hope), Donald is in his Stormtrooper outfit, and Goofy is in darth vader outfit but with mickey boxers. It's just hilarious!
So I was thinking.. HOW can we get it to work at Disneyland?? It really is just way too crowded, but WHAT IF they had it this year. How would they achieve it?
Star Tours is already in Tomorrowland along with Star Trader shop. And the Jedi Training Academy is at the Tomorrowland Terrace.
What other areas could be utilized for this kind of event if they held it right now? I thought of a few areas that could work:
-Imagination Institute theater -- Now it's playing everyone's favorite "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" but it could also work as a place where the opening ceremonies takes place, along with the Clone Wars preview that they're having now in Florida.
-Starcade -- The bottom floor could be an extension of the Star Trader shop where guests can find Star Wars weekends exclusive merchandise. The top floor can be used for Star Wars celebrity autographs.
-Space Mountain exterior queue area -- The queue of Space Mountain can be adjusted so there's more space on the top deck for more autograph stations if the top floor of the Starcade isn't enough.
-Innoventions -- An area of Innoventions can also be utilized to help out in the Star Wars weekends promotion if they so chose to do so. Perhaps the exhibit that showcases the props, costumes, and models used in the actual Star Wars films can be on display here.
And if all that doesn't work...
Big Thunder Ranch! Sure, it's far away from Tomorrowland, but it has the space for a lot of what's needed for something like this. The area kinda looks like GEONOSIS (in ep2) anyway!
Alright so that's my pitch. Who's with me? Or good luck, I'm gonna need it.
