If the average time between vehicle dispatches in 38 seconds and each set of 2 vehicles can hold 8 people then the hourly capacity is about 756. Is that good? It seems kinda low. Does anyone know if the dispatch time on the screen is below or at target? Thanks for any info anyone has.
Running at full capacity at 38 second intervals gives you a rider/hour capacity of 1515 persons per hour at 160 persons max capacity with 20 vehicles running. Each vehicle holds 8, not 4.

On a busy day the attraction's full capacity, which includes the queue, can be over 1000 persons, which means that taking many bodies off the walkways on busy days and an addition to the park's overall capacity level. I could report back later and when or if I find out the attraction's full capacity level.

I hope the people who "think" they won't like it before they even try it, DON'T ever ride it. That way, the line will be shorter and we, who love it, can ride more often. As far as people who think there are no crowds at DCA, again, please don't come, because it's pretty difficult trying to get through the non-crowds as it is. We really don't need you blocking the way.

The original poster of the capacity math *did* say there were 8 riders per vehicle.

Are you sure about that math? 8 riders at 38 second intervals does indeed equal 757 riders per hour. If you could decrease it to 30 second intervals, you a capacity of 960/hr. But no where near 1515/hr.

Each set of 2 vehicles holds 16 at full capacity, not 8.

We both did the math correctly, just a mistake of the number of persons/riders each vehicle can hold.

After that, I told her that we didn't win the AP Preview Pass and we were totally stoked to come on opening day. As we started walking away, we get called back and they let us ride. I was in complete shock. She escorted us to the 3-D glasses bin, and then let us be.
The ride still has the new paint smell, there is no chips or dings anywhere. It was fantastic.

Each individual car holds 4 people right? 2 on each side. And I thought each vehicle consisted of 2 cars connected. Which is 8 people per vehicle.

So where am I wrong? Are 4 car trains sent off at each interval or 2 two car trains? I'm sure you're right, I just must have the car/vehicle layout wrong.

Your first statement is correct. However they can load/unload 2 vehicles at the dock and dispatch 2 vehicles at once.

It looks like they dispatch two vehicles at once, with 8 gates across for people to enter the ride, thus 16 people are dispatched at one time, 8 per vehicle, 4 per car, thus they would be at 1500, which would be very impressive.

Aha! That explains it. Much like the dispatching of POTC boats - two at a time. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Is 38 seconds the expected regular dispatch interval or is this something they can improve?

3 can go per row. Each vehicle houses 4 rows of 3, increasing the stated "8" per vehicle, to the correct number of "12" per vehicle (theoretically of course). This doesn't factor in the special vehicles designed for wheelchairs, which usually send a few empty guns.

Broken guns are an efficiency killer. Constantly, guns are covered causing a slowdown in the boarding process. Groups of four try to get in, but can't because one of the guns is broken. They have to wait for the next vehicle. Again, this causes even more problems for CM's trying to get people in the vehicles. At this point the CM's need to pull people standing behind the party of four, to try to fill in as many seats as possible.

Ultimately, this attraction should only be slightly better than Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, in terms of efficiency, during the opening months. As they work out the bugs, this attraction has the capacity to achieve much higher numbers.
