Re: Searching for Pictures - DL Sax Quintet 1980-1994

I wish that sax group was still around at DL. Especially since it used that rarest of saxophones, the bass. Though you can still see a bass sax with the Pearly Band that plays near the castle.

There are always new ways to approach a problem... I would suggest joining some of the other online Disney communities and asking there too, but your reception may vary - especially if they get an attitude because you came here first. Silly, but true, which is why I prefer to spend time here.

You are going to have to get in line on that one, and that line is going around the block twice. Last I heard (a few months ago) he's keeping the arms in practice, but when the legs poop out he has to stop. Pinched nerve headed to the achiles - the sustain pedal. And he uses it a LOT playing Ragtime.

The Website is still open and you can get signed copies of the CD's (and player piano MIDI software) - www.fourhandpiano.com You can still infect him with a well-rounded musical education - play it in the car where you have a captive audience.

And after you get past that hurdle, you can let him find out that Paul McCartney played in another band before Wings...

No!!! Next you're going to tell me that Ringo Starr didn't always have a solo career!

He has a solo career now??

Oh, and Nicksmommy: After that, the next step is to introduce the kid to another killer example of the Baritone Sax done right - Stephen "Doc" Kupka, Tower Of Power.

We're all about TofP here - have a friend used to play guitar with them. And Nick's well versed in The Beatles - Gramma's favorite, which, of course, made them my fave when I was growing up.

As for the ragtime, Nick enjoys listening on CD, we have some, but the guy playing on MS now just doesn't have the same charisma, which is what Nick needs to keep his attention at this age.

    The hunt continues...

The term you are looking for is "bump", as in bumping it back to the top.

I need to call the sister unit, and see if she has the boxes of slides.

Re: Searching for Pictures - DL Sax Quintet 1980-1994

You still need to get a nice head-shot of the Sax Player in question, put it on a photo server like Picasa or Photobucket or MiceShots, and post a link here. So we have something for comparison to know when we've hit paydirt. And a name in case someone has a captioned Disney publicity photo - they mark them.

And preferably the headshot is from that time period, so we don't have to guess from a modern photo what he looked like 15 years ago. If he was playing professionally, he likely had 8X10's to hand out to booking agents - you just need to find one...
