Replace California Screamin' with Blue Flash?

Now that TSMM is open and after the Maliboomer is removed, I think DCA might want to think about replacing California Screamin' with something that fits the theme of an ocean pier better. Something maybe related to water, you know, something blue. And it should be smaller so that they have more space for other attractions and shops.

What do you think? Should they replace California Screamin' with Blue Flash?

Not a chance. Screamin' is here to stay. I personally wouldn't mind trading my pool for a Blue Flash however.

If they want somethin blue, paint it. I don't think there is a chance.

California Screamin' is made to kind of "look" like a wooden roller coaster but it will be very unlikely to be removed (it could easily be rethemed or modified to better reflect the victorian pier theme). Without it we'd have a panoramic view of the A/C units on top of the Anaheim Convention Center and the high voltage wires. California Screamin' is actually acts as to 'berm' to block the view of the power lines and Anaheim Convention Center right behind it (though at some visual angles at Paradise Pier, you can still see the Arena and the Hilton)

    Spoiler
if I'm interpreting this thread correctly, Mojave was just using as a joke. If you guys checked out the link to the Blue Flash at the end of Mojave's post, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Anyways, Mojave, that was a cool link. The thing kinda of looks a little unsupported though, hopefully nothing bad will happen. But still very cool.

Re: Replace California Screamin' with Blue Flash?

This gives me hope. I want to build a homemade dark ride .

I too think Screamin' is here to stay, but I would like to see a surf-themed stand up roller coaster somewhere in DCA.

When my friend moved to Arkansas, people who learned he was from California asked him three things:

    1. Are you from L.A.?
    2. Are you in a gang?
    and
    3. Do you surf?

(None were true of him, BTW )

The first is represented, the second is not Disney appropriate, but the third (surfing) is something very associated with California and considered "cool" with Disney's "target audience" that is curiously under-represented at DCA.

I wonder if Paradise Pier featured more surfing-based ideas when it was called Surf City.

I think the lines for the blue Flash would be too long and where do you put all the t-shirts and key chains you would need to sell to support the ride?

I'm pretty sure I saw a feature on the Blue Flash on the travel channel a while ago. . . I can't remember what show it was on. It does look fun, though the ride vehicle looks less than solid.
I think Disney should replace California Screamin' with a high-tech virtual reality simulator ride which simulates the thrilling experience of visiting a gift shop. This gift shop simulator would immerse the visitor in a cutting-edge recreation of shopping for over-priced toys and stuffed animals, gawdy theme park logo adorned clothing never to be worn again once the vacation is over, and tacky nick-nacks destined for the closet, like shot glasses, thimbles, back-scratchers, snow-globe paperweights and post cards. The "rider" could purchase some of this riveting merchandise of course, and to save money and time, it would be shipped to their last known address 6-8 weeks after the ride. No wonder Walt Disney Imagineering is having problems when fresh-minded geniuses like me are left to work in insurance rather than in theme park design!
Forget 'Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln,' Samantha Brown is Disney's most sophisticated animatronic.

That's the scariest thing I've ever seen. Whose wife lets him do that?

That thing looks like a death trap! Even though seeing the babies and children ride are cute, I can't help but think "ARE THEY OUT OF THEIR MINDS!?" lol
