Re: House of the Future (Dream Home) AP Preview!

so Disney co thinks the house of the future will look just like a 1920's Craftsman Bungalow.....?

My wife is obsessed with the new Microsoft Surface. When I told her that the "house of the future" would have one, she suddenly wants to go to Disneyland to check it out.

Pezz, thanks so much for the photos and commentary on the House of the Future. I'm definitely going to check it out once it's open to everyone. The kitchen area and all the tech there caught my eye. And of course, I want to see the mirror in action. Thanks again for the great report!

Re: House of the Future (Dream Home) AP Preview!

I finally got in today - it was nice - more "real life" than the old home of the future. Not sure what I expected - but not really this. It is "CA Craftsman" style with today's technology included - not sure one would want everything the house is showing - but some great things to think about. The most practical - Lillian the kitchen assistant. Most fun - the dining room table. It is worth checking out!

Thanks for sharing the pictures Pezz. At first I thought that it looked like a nice place to find reprive from the heat, but after looking at your photos, it sounds like it could be fun too!

Those digital picture frames suck down a lot of power. I keep hoping that one day, they'll find a way to make a picture that doesn't consume power (or look dorky through polarized sunglasses).

Thanks for the report.

Some very interesting things, but the technology integrated into almost everything would really be overkill in an actual home.

Much like the display in Epcot, I dub this the "House of things you cannot afford", as opposed to a house of the future.

Nice pictures. I know I may be reaching, but could that be one of the sharks from the Submarine Voyage? It looks close to the one from the 20k ride.

They probably had some 1020's Craftsman architects left over from building the Grand Californian.

*Bold Mine*

Thanks Pezz for a sneek peek of this latest attraction! But from what I saw in the pictures, I tend to agree with BC. Maybe I'm jaded or spoiled by reading to much Science Fiction my entire life, but except for a couple of things, it didn't really look that futuristic to me. The couple of nods to the past were cute, but I think this is an attraction that I might go see once or twice, but then I don't think I will feel a need to wander through it again.

I was sad this was not open last week during my visit. Will have to check it out next time around in October.
