Wall-E: The New Frontrunner to Replace HISTA?

There's two problems with "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience":

    1. It's old, and getting rusty.
    2. Disney doesn't own a sci-fi/futuristic franchise that they could make a 3D film around, and they ain't gonna open it back up for concerts.

All the prospects over the years have fallen thru: Treasure Planet, Hitchhiker's Guide. But good news, everybody! Disney is noticeably Pixar crazy, and we have a SCI-FI, space-themed Pixar movie coming out this Friday! So, could this be IT? Could Wall-E make a terrific 3D/4D attraction?

Now, I know what many are going to say: "I hate film attractions. Just gut the thing." Please, don't post that. It's not gonna happen, as Disney will only replace HISTA with another film. Time to look on the bright side. With proper Imagineering behind the wheel, Wall-E could become just as entertaining as T2 over at Universal Studios.

I haven't seen the attraction, so I can't propose an exact idea just yet, but I might on Friday. However, while the idea of the show starting as a Buy-N-Large presentation has occured to me, it's way too much like HISTA and Terminator. Any other ideas?...

There has been talks about it, no confirmation. I know, it is time to replace the 3D movie. The new costumes don't match to the film.

The problem is once there is a new 3D movie, will it also get old and stale after so many years like HISTA? At first there would be long lines and full shows for a couple of years and then, it will slow down and no one will come to it anymore.

They have a guy that walks around and does stuff on stage for Muppets. What about having Wall-E come out and do the same if they do through with this idea? They already have him running about the city, there's videos of him interacting with people so it seriously wouldn't be hard to program a show for him or to even do it live like the current version.

I think gutting it is still a possibility. There's been rumor of a major e-ticket being built in TL. This might become queue space or some facet of that rumored attraction.

I think space is to valuable in TL right now to put another film attraction in this space. Especially with all the hints and rumors about Mr. Baxter's "major" plans for TL in the rather near future.

Re: Wall-E: The New Frontrunner to Replace HISTA?

WALL-E is destined to be a steller hit - and beyond that, the future will prove the film (frachise) to be Pixar's most prolific creation. The film has heart, charm, drama, and a meaningful message to not trash our planet (delivered thru entertainment - not preachiness.

From the way things look, it will become the animated equivalent of Star Wars. Like Star Tours, the Disneyland attraction that WALL-E will inspire will envilve breakthrough technology in terms of both ride and theater technology. As contageous as your enthusiasm is, goldenstate, the Walt Disney Company has much larger plans for our little robot than to shoehorn him in as the latest replacement for periodicly aging 3-D films in the Magic Eye theater.

An attraction based on WALL-E is most heavily rumored to occupy the Innoventions building - perhaps both levels, after Microsoft's contratract runs out. tt's possible that WALL-E ride vehicles might even occupy the former PeopleMove/Rocket Rods track.

Good point about HISTA needing to go. It's possible that the theater might be modified into a special effects laden show that's even more immersive than current 4-D theaters.

Absilutely! Odds are that Mickey's PhilHarmagic will become DL's next 4-D attraction. Since structural integity of the DCA building
that houses Muppets 3-D would not support MPH, it will likely find a home in either Fantasyland or Toon Town. MPH would be inconstant w/TL's futuristic theme.

Yes. I've pesented two different threads over the course of the past year pointing out that Disney has plans to turn WALL-E into an e-ticket attraction. Can't say that I would wish HISTA's theater building to become a queue for the e-ticket. I hope that Disney will utilize the building for a new attraction of some sort - even if the bulding requires modifications.

In Innoventions? Well, that's certainly befuddling. How can they make an awesome E-ticket attraction in so little space?...

I agree with Ride Warrior. They'll probably go for PhilharMagic to replace HISTA. I'm not a HISTA hater, but PhilharMagic is state of the art 3D, and HISTA isn't anymore. I figure they'll keep it going in Florida a little longer, for those who still want to see that cool snake coming out of the screen at them..

I would love to see wall-e in place of HISTA. HISTA was kind of fun when it first opened, but it is sorely outdated now. Wall-e is going to be huge, and would fit nicely in TL.

Don't shoot the messenger. That is a rumor that comes from a source directly connected with WDI. The building will likely be only part of the attraction. Besides, the building isn't that small - and it is much larger than the HISTA building.

Re: Wall-E: The New Frontrunner to Replace HISTA?

To me, the main problem with HISTA is that they've let it sit there well beyond it's date of freshness. I feel that if they had updated the attraction building with a new 3D attraction or two over the many years that HISTA has been playing there, the idea of yet 'another 3D attraction' wouldn't be as frowned upon.

Those of us who have experience Mickey's PhilharMagic have enjoyed it so it's not that we don't like new 3D attractions. But I'm guessing that over time, even that will become stale because 3D movie attractions have a limited shelf life. They cannot be left there for 15 to 20 years and expect to still thrill people over and over like normal attractions.

IMO, Disney erred in allowing us to get so sick of HISTA and now the idea of finally putting a new 3D attraction inside is not a very welcome one.
