    DL Resort wish list

I was wondering what people would like to see come to the DLR in terms of outside the parks offerings. I don't persoanally have any really strong feelings about anything in particular, although I have a few ideas that I think could be cool. Here's some of those, and a few others that I think might people might like or want.

    Concert Venue
    Broadway type show venue
    Waterpark
    Miniature Golf
    Themed dining
Facilities that can be rented for private parties
    Spas
    Gyms and recreational sports
    Disney gallery/Museum
    Classic Disney movie theater
    Skating Rink
    Nightclubs

What are your ideas? What do you think are the best uses of the relatively limited space that the DLR has? What would draw people to the resort and make visitors want to stay longer? Stores that should be added? Types of hotels that might be fun?
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

    How 'bout...

An overnight kennel for pets traveling with their owners? Or at the very least, a hotel wing/floor reserved for owners with pets?

A Jessica Rabbit-themed adult gentlemen's club? I kid. No, I'm not. Yes. Uh.

I think definitely a larger shopping area. Also, maybe a recreational lake, a few more hotels, a Boardwalk, and a WiiPark (my idea to make an indoor park using Wii technology).

I would like to see more affordable Disney-owned hotels. I agree with the idea of an ice rink, actually a whole recreational sports complex would be nice (an indoor track, basketball courts, etc.) something that you could buy admission to as an add on to your hotel stay so you could work out while you stay there.
And I have always wanted nightclubs, but even more so now that I am almost old enough to actually go to them. So a big yes from me on themed nightclubs.

I love fine dinning. My girlfriend and I eat at a 4 star restaurant at least once a month. I think they need to put at least 1 or 2 more fancy restaurants in the down town Disney area. I know that the Anaheim Garden Walk just recently opened up so that kind of helps out. I would also like to see a Borders Books or Virgin Megastore or anything that has books and music.

Music retail is tough these days, it's becoming a thing of the past, that's probably why there isn't a good music store.

They need to put back a few things, or re-Imagineer them in the process...

They need another Monorail Cafe' - A good simple coffee shop / diner style venue that can handle larger volumes after park close and early before opening. Whitewater Snacks is close, but no cigar.

They need another Neon Cactus - a watering hole, a Dive.

If they remodel the Disneyland Hotel with a wrecking ball, they need to dramatically increase the Convention and Meeting space, and could add a concert venue class hall at the same time. Make it splittable with a seperate entrance and box office.

Add another wing onto Mickey & Friends over as far as the Pinocchio crosswalk, and then they have enough space to handle the concert-goers at the same place. Add a second set of escalators headed toward the Hotels/DTD.

I also agree with the ice rink, and the idea for more affordable Disney hotels. I've always wanted to stay at a Disney-owned hotel but I figured I'd rather spend that money on stuff at the parks.

I'd love to see a theater in DTD for touring musicals. I know the shows wouldn't necessarily be Disney, but not all the movies at DTD are Disney, so why not have touring musicals.

I really can't think of anything that hasn't already been said. A theater for shows and musicals would be really cool though.

    Great ideas everyone...

I agree a monorail cafe and a dive bar would be awesome, not the kind of things you would normally associate with Disney but since they are a part of the past, agree they should be brought back. Maybe remodel the unimpressive movie theater, and locate them there. Then expand and add more screens, a new more grand entrance to the movie theaters and maybe a couple more IMAX screens. I like the idea of it being close enough to be the new Monorail Cafe. I also think some performance venues could be cool, and would draw more locals to the resort and give vacationers more to do as well. Maybe a whole arts complex could be built near the new DLH with facilities for everything from rock concerts to symphonies to Broadway type shows. Also, how about a Cirque Du Soleil?

I would LOVE that :sigh: I still love the classic movies over the new ones. Also, I'd love better coffee in the park, I really hate that Nescafe stuff. They even serve it in the hotels. I want my espresso! lol.

Ideas are great! I'd like to see a lot of what's up here, but where would they put it? The Kattella lot. That means a monorail extension! Also, Disney will own 3 hotels in garden walk so maybe a monorail extension out there too!

Oh, Concert Venue... I'd say no. They have the house of blues. On top of that, the City has The Grove, The Pond (Honda Center), Angel Stadium, and the Convention Center. Too much, and since there are already so many, why not use the space for other things.
