Yeah I've seen Marie in Town Square (that's what that area is called) at MK too. When they used to have characters in front of the floral Mickey just past the turnstiles, I saw her out there once too (this was back in 2008 or 2009... disappointed they stopped putting characters out there as they'd been doing it since the park opened in 1971).

Oh, well. The parks are a ton of fun whether there were any random character sightings or not. My sister and I had lots of character sightings in 2003 but i was unable to enlist her as a traveling companion this time. She says she's in her 40's now and sort of "over it". She's young at heart, but I guess not enough to do a full trip to Disney again. Ironically, I'M the older sister (also in my 40's).

I am not "over it" and got Disney in my blood even worse this time!
The characters are scheduled to take breaks at certain intervals. They're usually only gone maybe 5 minutes and they're right back out there again. When they stop a line so a character can have a break (for Duffy's breaks, they say he's going to go have some cookies), 9 times out of 10, the character attendants will say they'll be back in just a few minutes, so stick around and wait.

Oh and several of my friends and people who I've worked with in the past... when I say I'm going to Disney they always go, "Again?!" and roll their eyes. They just don't get it. Disney is an escape from reality for me. It's nice to get away from the "real world" for a day or two and just be a kid again. I grew up in a Disney-loving family, so it's pretty much in my blood.

Aimster, I am SO envious of you living so close to WDW. We haven't been there in too many years. But when I walk through the front gates of any of the Parks, a feelling comes over me and I'm a kid again, too! (Pretty fun for an older lady like me!) So I get it. And I share it with you!

    Truly magical, right?

That's what made it so bizarre. Duffy was standing there, there was nobody else behind me, just me, and it was like when he saw me, he came up, tried to eat my food, then left (didn't look at a watch or clock, just left!), and I said, "hey, Duffy, come back, where are you going?" I then asked the Cast Members and they didn't know where he went or for how long...so....onward I went. i just assumed maybe it was a break...but they didn't know if/when he'd be back or what his meet and greet "schedule" was. I wondered if maybe it was shift change, a costume change and Duffy's time was over, etc. and decided not to wait. That's why I laughed and put in that I am normal looking, honest. It was weird!

And yes, it was like I arrived and morphed into a total kid again - Disney has that effect and everything is so well themed that it IS an escape and it really IS the happiest place on earth!

I think there might be a few of us that live close to WDW.

I try to go once a month since I have an annual pass. Even if it's just for a day trip (which I can do since I live 90 minutes from WDW), but if I can find a good rate at my usual hotel or have enough rewards points for a free night (I always stay at the same hotel off-property), then I'll do an overnight trip.

I walk through those gates and I'm 5 years old for the most part.

I'm very close to the parks as I live in Orlando, and am at WDW almost every weekend! Unfortunately we haven't gone recently because of being busy, but I never get tired of it and I have the same problem with people not understanding my attraction to Disney. Like aimster said, it's an escape from reality for me too!

I live close to Disneyland (well, within a 45-minute drive by car, granted LA traffic isn't absolutely obscene) but not enough to go every weekend, lucky you!

I swear, it's just really hard to be upset while you're at Disneyland. I see all sorts of people whom one might stereotype as too "tough/cool/etc." to enjoy a family theme park, but even the most toughest-looking people melt into children when they're at at a Disney park...

Has anyone been so close to a Disney park, they could see inside of it, yet they didn't get to go inside? That's pure torture. It happened to me as a kid. My Dad bought a jacket at Disneyland at the Pendleton store that used to be in Frontierland. Well, something happened to the coat, so he needed to exchange it. We had to drive to Disneyland, and they escorted him into the park to the store so he could do it. We had to sit in the car in the parking lot waiting for him. Man, I can't tell you how that drove me nuts! I wanted to go play in the park so bad...so close, but so far away!

Oh I remember that store. I think driving on the 5 freeway and seeing the Matterhorn and not going in was painful, but in the parking lot, wow now that's pain

Back to some photos! Today I brought ShellieMay to work with me. She wants to go shopping after work, so she begged. Besides, I could use her help babysitting Duff-a-Lump & the teenies.

    She's getting situated...but that's My chair, Shellie!

I don't think she's trying to help me turn on the computer, she just wants to play online...

Ok, Shellie, I have a job for you. You can babysit today...good luck! I have some chocolate to feed them...

I have...well had (removed this morning by my daughter...they are her's after all) puppets Duffy and Shellie May sitting on my desk in my office. However my office is in my house, so although there aren't a lot of stuffies (our term for stuffed animals) in my office, there are plenty in my "office building."

ShellieMay was having a little trouble with the "kids"...it's near lunchtime and they're bored. So, they wanted to play. Turns out, they think she makes a great jungle gym! She was not amused. Here she is looking a little harassed.

Then, she got an idea. We brought my Nintendo 3DS, and she decided to distract them with games and videos! It worked...for now.

I was looking for a perfect size box today and used a BAB stuff at home kit box. In it was a rabbit with an Easter dress. I realized it would be a perfect fit for Puppet Shellie May. Not an action shot, just wanted you all to see. I think it is adorable, although a little blurry.
