Last night, my Duffy family and I finally had some free time, and I was able to snap some photos of D.B., Shellie May, and Duffy relaxing.
D.B. decided to enjoy his downtime by reading a book…
Well, he wanted to read a book, but when he tried to hold it by himself, the book proved to be far too heavy for him. Maybe I could sit on it, he thought and realizing the brilliance of his idea, he promptly sat on his book.
That plan worked for a while…until D.B. realized he couldn’t read any of the words on which he was sitting. I’ll just scoot back, he reasoned. When I turn a page, I’ll scoot forward and when I need to move back, I’ll scoot back. And so he did—right off the book!
“Aaaggghhh!” he screamed. “Ok, new plan: I’ll just kneel on the book.”
But in that position, D.B. couldn’t keep the book's sides firmly held down. As a result, the book snapped close on him. “Oh noooooo!” he moaned.
D.B. was on the verge of tears. He really wanted to read his book. What to do? What to do? he pondered.
D.B. tried his original position again, but again, no luck. And just when D.B. was about to give up, his big brother Snowflake came to his rescue and positioned his nose behind the book so that it wouldn’t fall.
“Thank you so much, Snowflake. Now, I can finally read my book,” D.B. gleefully proclaimed.
Meanwhile, Duffy was busy on one of my laptops.
“What’cha doin’, Duffy,” I inquired.
“Watchin’ The Avengers,” he happily replied.
Wait a minute—“Duffy, are those—are those my Skull Candy Uproar headphones?”
“The Bose are too big,” he sheepishly grinned. Well, okay then.
Meanwhile, Shellie was nestled on a pillow busy watching Cougar Town, listening to M83—my ear buds!—and eating a leftover St. Patrick’s Day cookie and some of my chocolates—my chocolates!
“Shellie, are those my ear buds?”
“They’re the only pair that fit my bear-sized ears,” she explained. “Nearly all of your over-the-ear headphones are too big. Plus, Duffy has the Skull Candy ones…and even those are too big for his ears!”
“That is true,” I concurred.
“Plus they squish his head and make him look weird...er,” she whispered.
“I heard that,” said Duffy.
“It’s true!” Shellie May defended. Duffy sulkily returned to his movie knowing she was right. Shellie looked back at me and suggested, “You should buy some more ear buds or buy us some bear-sized headphones.” Sensing my focus was elsewhere, she finally admitted, “And yes, I’m eating your chocolate. Look, Jules is getting hit in the head with a dodge ball!”
“Well, enjoy M83, Cougar Town, the cookie, and the chocolates,” I said. “I’ll just go sit in my moon chair, grab the other laptop, and see if Build-a-Bear has bear-sized headphones. But I don’t think they do.”
“Build-a-Bear has everything. C’mon, girlfriend, don’t be ridic!” Shellie laughed while quoting Jules Cobb. She ate another piece of chocolate and returned to her show.
